Diaspora Mind Map

This is a Diaspora Mind Map. A diaspora is a dispersed people with origins in a different geographical location. The term diaspora was originally used to describe the wholesale dispersion of a population from its native lands, notably the dispersion of Jews. While the term "diasporas" was initially intended to describe people who were forcibly relocated, it is now more commonly used to describe people who identify with a geographic location but currently live elsewhere. Scholars have recently discriminated between distinct types of diaspora based on the causes of migration, such as colonialism, trade, or labor migrations, or the level of social cohesion within the diaspora community and its ties to ancestral regions. Some expatriate populations have strong political ties to their home countries. Other characteristics that may be common to many diasporas include the desire to return home (country of origin), relationships with other diaspora populations, and a lack of full integration into the host countries. Diasporas frequently maintain ties to the countries with which they have historical ties and exert influence over the politics of the countries in which they live. There are plenty of other sociology templates in the community of EdrawMind.
