- The Quality Management Strategy is derived from the: Project Board; Project Brief, Projectmanagement team structure (for roles and responsibilities), Project Product Description (for thecustomer’s quality expectations and acceptance criteria); Organizational standards; Supplier andcustomer quality management systems; Configuration management requirements; Changecontrol requirements; Corporate or programme strategies; Facilitated workshops and informaldiscussions.
- A Quality Management Strategy can take a number offormats, including: Stand-alone document or a section in theProject Initiation Document; Entry in a project managementtool.
- The following quality criteriashould be observed:
- The strategy clearly defines ways in which thecustomer’s quality expectations will be met
- The defined ways are sufficient to achieve therequired quality
- Responsibilities for quality are defined up to alevel that is independent of the project andProject Manager
- The strategy conforms to the supplier’s andcustomer’s quality management systems
- The strategy conforms to the corporate orprogramme quality policy
- The approaches to assuring quality for theproject are appropriate in the light of thestandards selected.
