How to quote for cabinets
Linear meter calculation method
The price of one linear meter = one meter of wall cabinet, one meter of countertop, one meter of floor cabinet
How to quote a price when there are many floor cabinets and few wall cabinets?
Divide the linear meters into proportions, such as 28, 37, and 46. For example, 28 points means that the unit price of wall cabinets is 20% of the quoted price per linear meter, and the unit price of base cabinets is 80% of the quoted price per linear meter.
Cabinet quotation calculation method
Total price of cabinets = sum of all parts
Price of wall cabinet = length of wall cabinet x unit price of wall cabinet
Base cabinet price = base cabinet length x base cabinet unit price
Countertop price = Countertop length X Countertop unit price
Optional functional hardware
Optional auxiliary materials and special materials
Points to note
When installing a disinfection cabinet, you need to calculate the length of the lower cabinet, but you don’t need to make a door panel, so you can save this part of the cost.
Be aware of additional charges
Consider the cost of the warranty and how it will be charged.
The so-called "standard configuration", such as the height of wall cabinets, is generally above 700mm, but some merchants say it is 660mm. If you want to make it higher, you have to pay more.

cabinet hardware
What are the common hardware for cabinets?
Hinge
It is what we commonly call "hinge", which is responsible for the important responsibility of connecting the cabinet and the door panel.
The hinges on the market now are basically detachable, divided into two parts: base and buckle, which can be easily replaced in the future.
Regarding the material of hinges, the most common one on the market is cold-rolled steel. Compared with ordinary inferior hinges made of thin iron welded, hinges made of cold-rolled steel can be stamped and formed in one go, with a smooth surface and thick coating that is not easy to rust. It is also durable and has strong load-bearing capacity.
An excellent hinge must also have perfect flexibility. Because most wall cabinet doors require the opening and closing angle of the hinge to be greater than 90 degrees, this can prevent people from bumping their shoulders when they need to stand on the countertop to put things on the wall cabinet. Some hinge opening and closing angles even exceed 180 degrees.
Today's hinges are equipped with dampers, whose main function is to prevent impact and shock absorption. Damping hinges are also called "hydraulic hinges". Their principle is to use the buffering properties of liquid to adapt to the closing speed of the door.
Generally, a door only needs one hinge and one damper, and there is no need to add dampers to every hinge.
drawer guides
The choice of drawers mainly depends on the type of guide rails. Common ones on the market now include: side slide rails (two/three-section rails), bottom rails, horse-drawn drawers, etc.
① Side slide rail (two/three section rail)
Side slide rails, as the name suggests, are guide rails installed on the sides of the drawer. The guide rails can be seen directly from the side, and they are not very aesthetically pleasing.
The difference between two-section rails and three-section rails lies in the number of sections and sliding distance of the guide rails.
The two-section guide rail consists of a fixed rail and a movable rail, while the three-section guide rail has an additional middle rail. Therefore, a drawer with two sections of guide rail can only pull out more than half of the core, while a drawer with three sections of guide rail can pull out all of the core.
The side slide rails on the market now are generally three-section rails. The three-section rail has poor load-bearing capacity and is generally used in wardrobes.
② Bottom rail
The support rail is also called the "invisible rail". When installing this kind of guide rail, the thinner side is fixed on the side panel of the cabinet, and the other side is installed on the bottom of the core-pulling bottom. After the installation is completed, the guide rails cannot be seen from the outside, which is more beautiful.
It is best to choose a bottom guide rail with a damping and buffering effect. Its load-bearing capacity is stronger than that of the side slide rail.
③Horse riding
Because its structure looks like a person riding a horse, it is called "horse riding". It is a type of bottom rail.
The saddle pump is placed directly under the drawer. One of its biggest advantages is that it is easy to install and disassemble. Each part is connected with a special buckle. When disassembling, you only need to press the corresponding buckle.
The riding push-pull is smoother and more stable than the side slide rail and the general bottom rail, and has better load-bearing capacity. Moreover, its silent effect and damping buffering are also incomparable with ordinary guide rails.
Of course, the price cannot be compared with ordinary guide rails.
Horse riding pumps are generally used in cabinets. However, horse riding pumps generally cannot extract all the cores, only half.
flip-up door air support
Wall cabinet doors generally have two types: swing doors and flip-up doors. Up-turning doors generally include up-turning oblique sliding doors and up-turning sliding doors. Sliding doors are undoubtedly more labor-saving, but they also have requirements for the height of the house.
The most critical hardware for flip-up doors is the "gas brace". Air braces are divided into ordinary air braces and "random stop air braces". Most people will choose the latter, because the door will stop at the corresponding height and will not flip to a very high position, thus avoiding the embarrassment of "wanting to reach but not being able to reach it."
pull basket
① Corner basket
Because when general cabinets are made into L-shaped or U-shaped layouts, two planes will inevitably intersect. In order to prevent the space at the corner from being wasted, it is a good choice to install a corner pull basket.
The corner pull basket is supported by the side panel of the cabinet to achieve large angle opening and closing. The built-in space in the corner can be used to the maximum extent.
Corner baskets generally have 180-degree rotation, 270-degree rotation and damping linkage. The basket with the corresponding rotation range should be selected according to the specific situation.
②Condiment basket
Seasoning baskets are generally pull-out and ergonomic, making it particularly convenient to take out and store knives, forks and seasonings.
③Pots and bowls basket
If you have a dishwasher, you don’t need it, right?
Pull baskets are generally made of stainless steel, chrome plating, baking paint and other materials. It is best to choose stainless steel, which is strong and durable, has strong corrosion resistance and load-bearing capacity.
But remember not to mistake chrome-plated ones for stainless steel. Regarding the difference between the two:
Chrome plating is silver-white and stainless steel is gray-silver;
Chrome plating generally has hook marks and dew points, and scratches at bends, but stainless steel does not.
Generally, the welding points of good pull baskets are all butt welding, with no weld marks. Basket guides generally have a damping effect, which can buffer the impact of pulling the basket and reduce the impact between the basket panel and the cabinet side panels.
handle
There are many types of handles on the market today, including external ones, built-in ones, and concealed ones.
The most common one we have is the plug-in type. Its materials include zinc alloy, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, plastic, logs, ceramics, etc. Generally, all-copper and stainless steel materials are better, zinc alloy and aluminum alloy materials are worse, and plastic ones are on the verge of being eliminated. It is best to choose handles that have been electroplated and electrostatically sprayed, which are wear-resistant and anti-corrosion.
Generally, families with children tend to install built-in handles in order to prevent the children from bumping into leaky handles when they are naughty.
However, as people pursue the neatness and beauty of cabinets, many people will choose concealed handles. This kind of handle is usually pressed on the top of the cabinet door. From a visual point of view, you can't see where the handle is.
Nowadays, some cabinet and wardrobe doors do not have handles. Instead, they use dampers. When pressed, the door can be opened. Its simple and labor-saving features are very popular among everyone. However, if you press it frequently, the service life may not be long.
Sliding door pulleys, guide rails and clothing channels
Generally, the hardware accessories of sliding door wardrobes are the same as those of cabinets, but nowadays most wardrobes are sliding door wardrobes. The hardware of wardrobes generally also includes: sliding door pulleys, slide rails and clothing channels.
The pulleys of the wardrobe are generally divided into upper wheels and lower wheels. The main responsibility of the upper wheels is to make the sliding door move smoothly, while the lower wheels bear more of the weight.
Wardrobe sliding door guides are grooves or ridges made of metal or other materials that are used to guide and regulate pulleys. Sliding door guide rails also have damping, which is generally installed at the upper guide rail, with one on each side. Its main function is to buffer, prevent collision and mute.
Clothes hangers are also commonly known as clothes hanging rods. The structure is divided into clothes hangers and clothes hangers. They are generally made of aluminum alloy materials, which have high hardness and strong load-bearing capacity. Many garments will have craft lines added to their surfaces, which not only have a decorative effect, but also have an anti-slip effect.
There is a rotating clothes hanger on the market now that can be rotated to move the innermost clothes to the front, which is very convenient. It can also be used for hanging storage of a large number of clothes, and the storage capacity is about three times that of a single pair of clothes. Of course, the price is also relatively expensive, so it is not recommended for ordinary families.
What brands are there for hardware?
Brands that are relatively good at hardware production include Germany's Hettich, Austria's Blum, Germany's Kesborgma, and domestic DTC.
However, Hettich hardware is more used in industry, and the most recognized brand on the market now is Blum.
Many big brand cabinets, such as Oppein, Zhibang, and Edfa, use Blum for hinges and drawer guides. Its opening life can be as high as more than 100,000 times, 365 days a year. Even if it is opened 20 times a day, it can be opened for 20 years.
In general cabinets, drawer guides and hinges are of the same brand, but because the cost of drawer guides is very high, some businesses will save money on them. For example, the hinges are made by Blum, but the drawer guides are made by themselves. brand or other brands, if you ask for Blum, you need to pay extra. When buying cabinets, you must ask this clearly.
Baskets are basically not made by Blum. Common brands of baskets include Kespermer, Henkel, Cabei, etc. Nowadays, many big brands of cabinets on the market, such as Oppein and Edfa, have domestic pull-out basket brands from Germany's Kesborgma.
How to buy hardware?
Generally, hinges do not need to be purchased separately, they are included in the cabinet and wardrobe packages. However, dampers are generally not included in the package! Requires separate purchase. The price is not expensive, a Blum damper only costs about 10 yuan.
Generally, cabinet and wardrobe packages do not include air supports. Even if they are included, they are given less. For example, Aishengpai cabinets come with two air supports.
Different brands of gas struts may have a big price gap. An ordinary "gas-stop brace at will" probably costs more than 100 yuan, while a Blum "gas-stop brace at will" may cost more than 900 yuan.
Generally, if the cabinet base is 3 meters or more, 3 drawers will be provided. If you want more drawers, you need to purchase them separately. A Blum bottom damping rail costs about 300-500 yuan.
Generally, cabinet packages do not include pull baskets. If purchased separately, a Hugo basket will cost more than 400 yuan, while a Kaisboma basket will cost about 700-1,000 yuan.
External handles are generally included in cabinet packages. You don’t need to pay too much attention to the brand when purchasing handles. The quality of each brand is similar. Just choose the style you like.
Installation of hardware
As the saying goes, "three cents to buy, seven cents to install", the quality of the installation of hardware accessories directly affects the use of cabinet functions.
① The installation of hinges, air supports, handles and other hardware requires drilling, and the drilling should be completed before the painter works.
②Be sure to confirm the hole spacing before drilling. The hole spacing generally refers to the distance between the two screw holes of hardware bases such as hinges and handles. The general specification is 32mm, otherwise it is a multiple of 32. The depth of the hole and the screw must be perfectly matched. If the installation is not firm, the hinge will slip off in a few days.
③The handle installation must comply with ergonomics. Simply put, it’s effortless. It is necessary to use the lower handle without bending, and to use the upper handle without building a ladder.
④ Painted hardware must be wrapped with a thick rag for installation, otherwise the paint will be easily scratched.
⑤ Pull baskets are generally customized strictly according to the size of the cabinet. If you buy the pull basket separately, the cabinet dimensions provided to the merchant must be accurate.
⑥Load drawers and baskets as far down as possible, so that you can make full use of the space and hold more things. When installing, be sure to check the level of the slide rails to ensure that one side is high and the other is low.
⑦ When installing the basket, some expansion plugs are generally required to ensure that the screws are fixed more firmly. If the screws are not tightened, the basket may easily fall off.
⑧It is best to place the seasoning basket on the right side of the stove, so that it is more convenient to get the seasonings when cooking. It is also best to plug the pot and bowl basket panel with a plug, because the basket and the panel are hard to work with from front to back, and the screws can easily be pulled out over time.
ikea cabinets
IKEA cabinets are the best (compared to other IKEA items)
Can be used to compare prices with custom manufacturers
Although Goose is very good, the number of people using it is still significantly less than other cabinet brands. One of the main reasons is: "IKEA cabinets cannot customize the product size."
Cabinet series
The IKEA cabinet series is relatively simple. There are only three types in total, namely METOD, KNOXHULT and SUNNERSTA. You can simply understand it as high school and low range.
The Mido series (sounds like a kitchen...) is the flagship model of IKEA kitchens. It is used in almost 80% of the kitchen area in the store. There are many options for frames and cabinet doors, which we will elaborate on later.
Mido series
This guy who holds up most of the IKEA kitchen has many options, including frames, cabinet doors, countertops, bases, trim strips, legs, drawers, handles, etc., and all parts have more than 2 options.
frame
Although the back panel of IKEA cabinets is still heirloom fiberboard, except for the back panel, the entire frame is basically made of 18mm thick veneered particleboard.
200, 400, 600, 800mm, these are all the width sizes of base cabinets, wall cabinets and high cabinets. No matter how complicated the size of your kitchen is, you can only use these four sizes to splice the cabinets.
Compared with the width, the height is more abundant due to the presence of tall cabinets. There are several sizes to choose from: 400, 600, 700, 800, 2000, and 2200mm.
The depth of cabinets is mostly 600mm, the wall cabinets are slightly smaller at 370mm, and the depth inside the cabinet is 340mm.
In addition to these general cabinets, there is also a corner cabinet that is special. It has a relatively large expansion width of 680, 880, and 1280mm, and a depth of 680 and 880mm. The height is the same as the general cabinet.
If there is a duct in the corner of your kitchen, be sure to confirm the size of the duct. If the space of the corner cabinet is too small, it is impossible to install the corner basket accessories.
You can only use the shelf. The back half of the shelf is basically unusable. To use it, you need to lean in...
cabinet door
Cabinet doors are made of particleboard, fiberboard, and solid wood, and the thicknesses are also quite conscientious.
mesa
The most important cabinet countertops, IKEA provides three options, namely composite board countertops, acrylic countertops and quartz stone countertops.
Composite board countertop
The thickness is divided into 28 and 38mm, and the length is 1860 and 2460mm. The length can be cut freely. If it is not enough, you can only buy another one. Yes, it is a whole board! !
The composite board countertop is actually a layer of paper pasted on the board. The sticker can be made into a marble or wood appearance, and the size and depth are all 635mm.
The individual price of these countertops is less than 800 yuan. The slightly raised ridges are somewhat similar to wooden and marble countertops. In fact, the imitation wood feels good to the touch.
However, the stickers are still affixed anyway, and it is inevitable that the edges will warp and slit. Over time or high temperatures, damage may still be possible.
However, most of the damage caused by liquid, oil, steam, high temperature, heavy impact, etc. is covered by a 25-year warranty. Non-human damage can be directly replaced with a new one. According to IKEA’s past experience, there has been no repair of damaged surface stickers within four years. Record.
The other two types of countertops, quartz stone countertops and acrylic countertops, are quite expensive among IKEA countertops. Many people overspend after choosing a complete set of cabinets because of them. They are both customized countertops.
Unlike composite board countertops, which are charged as a whole piece, because they need to be customized, they are charged per meter. The starting price is usually 1,000 yuan/meter... and the price increases in minutes.
Acrylic and quartz stone countertops are formed in one piece, and each piece cannot exceed 2400mm. If it exceeds, multiple pieces need to be spliced, which is really expensive when you think about it.
Moreover, all IKEA's stone countertops are covered with boards, not all stone slabs... emmm, that's a bit unkind.
Base and moldings
The base, trim strips, and legs are generally similar in color and style to the theme, so basically there are as many bases as there are frames, so just choose the one that matches.
There are also specially designed for heat dissipation under electrical appliances embedded in cabinets. You can choose a base with an opening or four-corner legs.
But isn’t it difficult to clean the place down there?
Hardware
As for the drawers of the cabinets, they are set according to the size of the frame. What is more interesting is that the drawers of IKEA cabinets have a "drawer within drawer" design. This design makes full use of the vertical space of the base cabinet without wasting any money.
The bottoms of IKEA cabinet drawers are no longer made of fiberboard like bookcase drawers, but are mostly made of particleboard. Officially, it can bear a load of 25kg, but I am more interested in its guide rails. When the staff removed the large drawers with a "click" in front of me, I was still a little surprised.
As for the final handle part, the smaller the object, the more you can see the belief of a brand. IKEA does a good job in this regard. They are all made by Blum. Although it is a small thing, its smoothness, rough edges, and feel The quality is okay, just choose according to your preference.
Install IKEA cabinets
There are two ways to install IKEA cabinets:
Master craftsmen: These people often have outstanding hands-on skills. They can design, install, and do everything themselves.
Ordinary people: Take me for example. This type of person is usually confused when seeing IKEA's dazzling array of kitchen products. They have their own creative ideas, but they are completely unable to combine IKEA cabinets with their own kitchen... It can be considered that after buying it, I will see it all when I go home. There is no way to start with the plank.
IKEA encourages people to do it themselves, but after all, there are still a small number of people who do it, so they provide professional product consultation and cost estimating services to help people complete brain-burning decorations. Although it is great, tedious appointments and all nodes require you to go to the store in person. Confirmation is still very labor-intensive.
The steps for using design services are roughly as follows:
Choose design services
What you need to do is bring a floor plan or a dimensional sketch, and IKEA will give you a simple product design and a rough quotation. If you are satisfied, you can make an appointment for measurement and wait for the surveyor to come to your home for a preliminary measurement.

The designer will notify you to negotiate a preliminary plan, and design the water and electricity layout drawing according to the plan. You will take it back to the construction team for construction. Then, when the construction team completes the floor tiles and wall tiles, you will need to make an appointment for a second on-site retest.
reserve
Payment for final plan drawings
After completion, go to the store to discuss the details with the designer and confirm the final plan.
reserve
Delivery and installation
After that, IKEA will print out the shopping list and installation drawings. Make an appointment and you can wait for the installation at home.
Making an appointment will take up some of your time!
There are not many designers in IKEA stores, which means that you need to make an appointment for every step you take. Most of the time, you have to wait for the appointment. If the project schedule is tight, students who are anxious about time should be mentally prepared first.
The design fee is not expensive, only 500 yuan, and if you confirm the purchase, if you buy more than 5 cabinets, you can get a refund of the entire 500 yuan.
The freight is cheaper. Take Beijing as an example. As long as the size does not exceed 20m³ within the administrative area, the price is 49 yuan, and it is delivered to your door at a time of your choice.
If you purchase a separate cabinet, the installation fee is calculated as 100 yuan per cabinet. If you purchase a whole cabinet, it will be charged per linear meter based on the final design draft.
Although designing cabinets at IKEA requires various appointments and you must be present at key points, the timeliness and price are at least transparent compared to other customized cabinets.
cabinet accessories
lamps
Operation lights installed under wall cabinets have become more and more popular, and they are basically installed in newly renovated kitchens.
There are also some cabinet lights and drawer lights that are also commonly used in IKEA. You can choose the lamps that suit your cabinets. However, the prices of these lamps are not cheap.
Moreover, when installing these lamps, you have to accept that there are a lot of wiring inside the cabinet. Well, Virgo, choose carefully, or you can keep them neatly and tie them up with wire bundles.
Storage
The last storage appliance, needless to say, is IKEA’s strength. All drawers have corresponding storage accessories. Most of the Mido series use wooden storage accessories.
Slightly cheaper plastic storage pieces are mostly used in Nokhu cabinets, and there are also cheaper simple storage pieces to choose from.
These are all regular drawer accessories, and there is also a more interesting type of IKEA cabinets that cannot be customized when placed in a Chinese-style kitchen. Even if they are randomly combined, they may not fit.
Use various storage pieces to solve these few centimeters of space. The best way is to use all available space without wasting it.
If the space is smaller, you can also set up a retractable towel rack, which is reasonable in the kitchen.
A chopping board rack can also be installed on the side of the wall cabinet, which is breathable and insect-proof, which is more convenient.
This is the uniqueness of IKEA. Now let’s look at the word “cannot be customized”. Perhaps from another angle, it means that IKEA does not need to customize, it will solve the problem for you in its own way.
stainless steel cabinets
How are stainless steel cabinets different?
True 0 formaldehyde
The countertop is integrated and will never crack.
Not afraid of fire or water
Good impact resistance and strong hardness
Does not discolor and is easy to clean
recyclable
Why not buy it if it’s so good?
Everyone knows the advantages of stainless steel cabinets, but its penetration rate is still very low, and its market share is even lower. This is mainly because there are several obstacles before the desire to buy:
①Expensive
The price is much higher than that of ordinary wooden cabinets. Under the premise that the average market price of ordinary cabinets is 3,000 yuan per linear meter, good all-stainless steel cabinets can even reach tens of thousands of yuan per meter.
② "Low appearance"
Chinese people have liked wooden objects since ancient times because wood has a warm feeling that other objects do not have. The style of wooden cabinets is more stable and simple, while the impression that stainless steel is inherently cold has long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
③Easily scratched
Although the stainless steel cabinet itself has no gaps and does not harbor dirt and evil, it will be scratched by sharp objects and produce scratches. Although it will not be very deep, it may leave stains that cannot be cleaned over time. The key is that it is beautiful. discount.
④Poor reputation
I still vaguely remember the incident that broke out last year that the all-stainless steel cabinets of a famous manufacturer were actually sandwich stainless steel, not to mention the vicious case of using highly toxic honeycomb alloy fillings to pass off as food-grade stainless steel.
But in fact, these roadblocks basically have solutions, but because few people really know the cause and effect, most people can only watch the show. Let’s break it down one by one below.
Why is it so expensive?
①304 food grade stainless steel
The whole body does not contain a trace of wood, and is made of food-grade 304 stainless steel as raw material from the inside to the outside. 304 stainless steel is a type of stainless steel stipulated by the state that can be used for cooking and holding food, and has a high level of hygiene and safety.
It has a high density, is not prone to rust, and has a very good heat capacity. Whether it is boiling oil in a hot pan or cooking on dry ice at -78.5°C, it will not be damaged.
Qualified 304 cabinets look bright and shiny, and feel very delicate. The reason why many people think they are not worth it is that there are too many substandard and unqualified stainless steel cabinets on the market made of non-304 stainless steel materials, such as 201 stainless steel.
304 and 201 are both codes for stainless steel. The two steels are almost indistinguishable to the naked eye, but 304 is more expensive, has better quality, has much better corrosion resistance than 201, and has better alkali resistance than 201;
201 will rust in a humid or salty environment for a long time, but 304 will not rust easily. If your 304 rusts, unless you soak it in corrosive chemicals every day, congratulations. You bought a fake 304 (smile) Yes, even if the material has the 304 mark printed on it, it may be fake.
②Steel thickness
Each component of the stainless steel cabinet is also made separately and assembled on site, because due to the weight of stainless steel, it is impossible for the 3cm thick countertop to be a solid stainless steel block.
The 3cm countertop is made of about 1mm steel folded and shaped into a square "box" with a hollow space in the middle and surrounded by four sides.
Therefore, the thickness of the steel directly determines the quality of the stainless steel cabinets. The thicker the steel, the higher the price. Some brands that value reputation will consciously use stainless steel plates with a thickness of 1mm-2mm. Even if the thickness is hollow, there is no need to worry about insufficient load-bearing support.
So in fact, it is best for stainless steel cabinets to have no filler or as little as possible. However, the price of steel with a thickness of 1mm is definitely not cheap. Some manufacturers are clever and use thin steel plate fillers to pretend to be thick steel plates. In the end, The most common one is the "sandwich stainless steel cabinet" mentioned above.
How to choose stainless steel cabinets?
①Don’t buy if the price is cheap
Everyone knows that you get what you pay for. The price of stainless steel cabinets of each brand is different, but the general price is 2-3 times that of ordinary stone cabinets. If the price of the merchant is too cheap, there must be something fishy. The first and most important point! Don't be greedy for petty gains.
②Look at the certificate
The surface of 304 stainless steel cabinets is generally stamped with the word "304" as the material. When purchasing, check whether there is such a word and ask for the relevant warranty certificate from the merchant.
③Measure magnetism
Genuine 304 stainless steel generally has no magnetism or very weak magnetism. When purchasing, bring a magnet with you and test it repeatedly on the countertop and sides of stainless steel cabinets. 304 stainless steel has no obvious adsorption force, while counterfeit products have the opposite effect.
Although this method cannot scientifically verify authenticity, repeated tests can identify unscrupulous merchants who plate weak magnetic coatings on counterfeit stainless steel to disrupt magnetism.
④Identification Potion
Popular stainless steel identification solutions on the market can determine the type of stainless steel by detecting the Ni (nickel) element content in the stainless steel. Drop the potion on the surface of stainless steel, and 304 will appear colorless or light yellow. However, this identification method is relatively old. It should be noted that the detection principle of the potion is to identify nickel elements, so if the merchant covers the surface with a nickel-containing coating It would be impossible to tell the difference...
⑤Hardware
No matter what kind of cabinet it is made of, hardware is very important. When purchasing it, just like ordinary cabinets, pay attention to whether the surface of the hardware is smooth and whether it feels heavy.
For hinges, slide rails and other components, open and close them multiple times to check the smoothness. Choosing big-brand hardware can also effectively avoid quality problems.
kitchen supplies
kitchen sink
Selection of stainless steel sinks
① Brushed surface or matte surface?
The surface of stainless steel sinks has different surface treatment processes due to people's needs for appearance and practicality. Its price is generally between 500-2,000 yuan, and it usually uses 304 steel as the raw material. The surface often has several surface treatments such as mercerized, brushed, embossed, and matte.
The more common one is the matte surface, which has both gloss and durability. Its most famous advantage is that it is oil-proof, but its wear resistance is slightly weaker.
The brushing process makes it more delicate and smooth, with a good hand feel, and the scratch resistance of the brushed surface will be significantly improved compared to before.
The embossed surface uses protruding lines to easily win the first place in stain resistance and wear resistance, but its appearance is a bit hard to describe.
Therefore, it is more recommended to choose a sink with a brushed surface. Daily small scratches will generally not leave obvious marks. The key is that it looks good and has a high-end color.
② Stretch sink and handmade sink?
According to the processing method, stainless steel sinks can be divided into two types: ordinary sinks and handmade sinks. Handmade sinks are better in appearance and function.
Ordinary sinks are also called stretch sinks. They are formed by pressing and stretching a whole steel plate with a model at one time by a machine. The principle is similar to that of a balloon, so the bottom and corners of the sink will be appropriately thinned. They are usually made of 0.8mm thick steel. .
The handmade sink is not really hammered out by hand, but is made by cutting, bending and laser welding the steel plate. The thickness of the steel plate will not be changed at the corners. It looks strong and powerful, with full lines and low weight. heavier.
The difference between the two can actually be seen very intuitively from the appearance. Due to the machine equipment, ordinary sinks cannot be made with approximately right-angled corners. Most of them have rounded and smooth corners, while handmade sinks can be bent into smaller edges. Angle, this kind of edge angle is called "R angle".
The small R-angle of the handmade sink is not only better in appearance, but also has higher utilization rate of the entire sink space.
In addition to distinguishing the two by appearance, you can also observe the back of the sink. The entire sink body of the stretched sink is smooth. The handmade sink is made of welded steel plates, so there are usually traces of welding where the corners are connected.
The price of handmade sinks is generally higher than that of stretch sinks, but the quality is also better. If conditions permit, it is recommended to choose handmade sinks.
③Size
When renovating a kitchen, in addition to specially customized sinks, off-the-shelf products are generally chosen. Common double-sink sink sizes are mostly between 70-80cmx40-45cm. The size of a single sink is not fixed and needs to be selected according to the size of the countertop.
It should be noted that the width of the cabinet countertop should be at least 10cm larger than the width of the sink, but the distance from the sink to the countertop should be kept closer. If there is too much, the kitchen will unconsciously stretch forward when washing dishes, which will naturally strain the waist over time.
Speaking of cabinets, there is also a method of creating a height difference in the countertop. Many people may have heard of it, which is to lower the stove cabinet and raise the sink cabinet to meet the optimal operating height of the human body.
④Depth
Regarding the depth of the sink, the deeper the better. Generally, the depth of the sink is controlled at about 18-23cm. The sink depth in this range is more ergonomic and more water-saving.
If the depth of the sink is less than 18cm, it is easy to splash water. If it is too deep, it will not only waste water but also require bending down to operate.
If your home already has a shallow sink, students who have trouble with splashing every day can also install a bubbler on the faucet to alleviate water pressure splashing. The bubbler will mix air into the water flow, reducing the impact of the water flow and weakening the spray. Splashes can also greatly reduce water consumption.
There is a tip for choosing the depth of the sink. When purchasing a sink or custom cabinets, you can stand still and reach out to explore the bottom of the sink. Generally, the most suitable height is when half of your palm can touch the bottom of the sink.
Single slot or double slot?
Double sinks are generally two sinks, one large and one small. They can perform different tasks at the same time. They can wash dishes and vegetables at the same time. They are hygienic and clean and can be reasonably distinguished.
As long as the length of the large sink is ≥35cm, it can handle daily washing and scrubbing. After all, the sizes of general cutting boards and pots are between 28~40cm.
If the size is small and you still have to make double slots, don’t force it. If you merge it into a single slot, the utilization rate will increase immediately.
The characteristic of a single sink is that it is large and can be put in with pots and pans for washing and scrubbing. However, a single sink consumes more water and requires a lot of water to wash small items.
Most people will choose to place a drain rack on a single sink to "disguise" it as a double sink to divide labor and save water.
Smaller single troughs tend to become cramped when placed on drain racks and shelves, and they may be bumped or even overturned if you often raise your hands. Large sized single troughs with a length of more than 65cm are more suitable.
How to install the sink
desktop
Just place the sink directly into the opened hole and place it on the countertop. However, the contact area between the sink and the countertop will be fixed with glass glue. In addition, the gap is difficult to clean, and it will often turn black and age over time.
Under the table
This eliminates the ever-high drop on the countertop and the dirty glass glue. When cleaning, you can directly sweep away all the residue on the countertop and flush it into the sink. The water on the countertop can also easily flow into the basin.
The undercounter type is also divided into two types: stepped type and non-stepped type. The stepped type is convenient for matching various auxiliary accessories, such as drain baskets, sink chopping boards, etc., and is more tolerant of the requirements for the opening of the countertop.
The non-step type is more stringent about the opening of the countertop. A slight error that is too large will lead to dust accumulation, so choosing this method requires certain skills of the installation master.
marble glue
In order to ensure the safety of the under-counter sink, the fixed glue used is not glass glue, but a marble glue with stronger adhesion. Marble glue is a special glue for stone.
The bonding surface should be clean and dry. If the bonding surface is too smooth, it must be polished and roughened. Generally, a stone layer is used on the back of the countertop to firmly adhere the layer to the countertop and fix the under-counter sink.
Many people are worried about the load-bearing problem of under-counter sinks. For under-counter basins that are operated normally and according to regulations, the marble glue will be very strong after drying. Coupled with the support of stone layering, heavier stone sinks generally bear 50kg, and stainless steel sinks are more It can reach about 200kg. It is no problem to fill the washing pot with water and wash dishes.
Taichung test
There is also a relatively rare Taichung-style installation. The Taichung-style is to cut a section on the countertop section with the same thickness as the sink panel.
However, if you want to achieve a very small gap, it is very difficult to make and install. The fees are often high and the desired effect cannot be achieved, so few people choose it.
All-in-one
There is also the one-piece countertop, which is seamlessly connected between the entire countertop and the sink. It is common in stainless steel countertops and artificial stone countertops. They are generally customized products. They can achieve shapes that others cannot, and there is no chance of dust hiding in the gaps. However, The price is quite high.
When choosing an installation method, it is recommended to choose the undercounter or integrated type as much as possible. The feeling of pushing all the remnants of the countertop into the sink is simply great. It is difficult to find a suitable installer in China for the Taichung type, so it is not recommended to try it at this stage.
Rear drain
It is impossible to miss the cabinet space under the sink. Every inch of space must be used, so the drain pipe in the middle is still very obstructive.
It is recommended to choose a sink with a rear or offset drain so that the cabinet under the sink becomes larger and even drawers can be installed.
If you have already purchased a sink with a drain in the middle, there is still a remedy. Just replace the entire drain pipe with a rear drain pipe. It is very simple.
garbage disposal
It should be noted that most garbage disposers have round connections. If some sinks have a square drain outlet, the garbage disposer cannot be installed.
You can purchase a special square mouth converter for this kind of drain outlet, and then it can be used with a garbage disposal.
There is another point to note when installing a garbage disposal. If it is a stone sink such as quartz stone or granite, the vibration of the garbage disposal when it is working is likely to crack the sink...
A garbage disposer is actually a machine that drives a circular cutterhead with a motor to crush food waste and then discharge it into the sewer.
Choosing a garbage disposal
motor
There are two main types of motors for garbage disposals, one is a DC garbage disposer and the other is an AC garbage disposer.
DC
The idling speed is relatively high, reaching about 4,000 rpm, but after the garbage is poured in, the speed will drop significantly to about 2,800 rpm, causing instability.
AC motor
The no-load speed is much smaller than that of a DC motor, about 1800 rpm, but the advantage is that the speed and no-load change are not big when it is working. Although the timeliness of garbage processing is slightly slower, the torque is larger, and it is more suitable for crushing large objects. Harder food waste such as bones.
The torque of an AC motor is much greater than that of a DC motor at the same power, and the torque of a garbage disposal is its crushing ability...
It seems that AC motor garbage disposers are more suitable for Chinese kitchens, and they can handle bone soup in the South and sauce skeletons in the North, while DC motors that first entered China may be more suitable for Western kitchens, such as salad, steak, and fish nuggets.
Many DC motors on the market also advertise high speeds, fooling you that the higher the motor speed, the faster the grinding speed, but in fact a higher no-load speed only means greater noise and stronger vibration... don't mind It's okay for commercial use with noise, but you should consider it for home use.
size
The size of most garbage disposers on the market is between 300-400x180-230mm. Generally, there is no problem with the horizontal size of home cabinets. It should be noted that the size from the bottom of the sink to the bottom of the cabinet needs to be greater than 400mm.
In addition, different sizes of garbage disposers also mean that they have different sizes of grinding chambers. Generally, the smaller the size, the smaller the grinding chamber space.
The size of the grinding chamber directly determines the grinding speed and time. A machine with inappropriate size will only waste more time and electricity. When purchasing, merchants will indicate the number of people the garbage disposal is suitable for. It is best to choose the number that corresponds to your own.
Remember not to choose a small machine with a small number of people in order to save money, otherwise it will waste more money. For example, if there are 5 people in your family but you buy a machine for 3 people, it can only process the garbage of 3 people at a time, which means you have to spend Nearly twice as much electricity and water...
weight
A standard-installed undercounter sink can generally bear the weight of an adult. The weight of a garbage disposer is insignificant to it. Moreover, when the garbage disposer is working, the rotation of the motor will produce vibrations. The center of gravity of the heavier machine with the same power will be the opposite. The more stable it is.
Most of the garbage disposers on the market weigh around 5 to 10kg depending on their size, and they can be installed in both countertop and undercounter sinks.
Safety
However, the garbage disposal machine has undergone nearly a hundred years of proven improvements abroad, changing the feared crushing cutterhead into a bladeless design.
And after it is installed on the sink, the distance between the drain outlet of the sink and the cutterhead is about 200mm, and you may not be able to touch the cutterhead when you reach in.
However, no matter how safe the machine is, there are certain dangers, so it is better to pay more attention, especially to children.
Garbage disposal installation steps
The installation of the garbage disposer is to install an additional machine between the sink and the sewer pipe. First, remove the entire set of sewer pipes that originally came with the sink, and remove the drain basket and replace it with a "drain basket" dedicated to the machine.
Other things to note
The garbage disposer needs to be powered on, usually with a three-hole plug. In fact, for newly renovated students, regardless of whether the garbage disposer is installed or not, it is recommended to leave two sockets under the sink and a switch on the sink to control the power supply under the sink. Everything is flexible. ▲You can also leave a socket with a switch under the sink

Why can an island kitchen bring such a full sense of happiness?
A countertop is added to the middle island. If a sink is installed, it can be used as a cold dining area to directly complete a series of processes of washing vegetables, cutting vegetables, and preparing meals. The hot meal area and the cold meal area are separated, so that raw and cooked food will not contaminate each other. When entertaining guests, both Chinese and Western food are served, with a 100% synchronization rate and little impact on each other.
Nowadays, most islands are customized together with the cabinets, so the islands can also have the storage functions that the cabinets have, including built-in kitchen appliances such as dishwashers, steam ovens, and even gas stoves. The islands can do everything the cabinets can do.
Extend the countertop of the island outward to form a dining table. Since the height of the island is usually 850~900mm, which is higher than the 700~750mm of an ordinary dining table, a high chair or liftable bar chair must be used in conjunction with it. The sitting posture is often light and casual. , it is a completely different experience than sitting at a dining table with four people facing each other.
Ideals come true: steps to create a practical and beautiful island
First, design the layout of the kitchen. There are some data to keep in mind:
The width of the cabinet countertop is at least 600mm, and the width of the island countertop is at least 500mm; the distance between the island and the cabinet is more than 750mm, which can ensure that one person can operate normally without hindrance; it is more than 900mm, which can ensure that the cabinet doors on both sides can be opened at the same time; the distance between the island and the cabinet should be at least 600mm. The edge distance from obstacles should be at least 750mm, preferably 900mm or more, to facilitate people walking through.
In order to stretch the legs when sitting down, the cabinet under the island is usually narrowed, making the countertop look much wider than the cabinet. A 500~600mm wide countertop is suitable for one person to eat, and a 800mm~1000mm wide countertop can accommodate two people sitting across from each other.
Due to reasons such as the flue reserved by developers, the main cabinets in most homes are arranged against the wall, that is, the range hood, stove, and sink are attached to the wall. The island is just a simple cabinet and countertop, and at most a sink.
Very few families will imitate Western or Japanese layouts, with the island as the main cooking area. At this time, it is best to build a higher semi-enclosed water block to prevent oil and water from splashing during cooking.
socket
Then, consider the reservation of sockets, which directly affects the water and electricity renovation in the early stage of decoration: try to stick to the wall if the side of the island can be attached to the wall, because it is most convenient to leave the sockets of small household appliances on this wall, and the height from the ground is about 1.2~1.4m. , whichever is easier for you to plug in and out;
When the middle island is completely independent and has no support on all sides, a special form of power strip can be used.
style
Finally, choose the style of the island. The island with custom-made plates is usually made by the same company as the cabinets, and the countertops are made of quartz stone or marble from the cabinets, giving a stronger sense of integrity.
If you want to emphasize the presence of the island, of course, you can also have a different style from the cabinets. When the cabinets are more modern and simple, you can try a rustic wood color for the island to immediately stand out from the modern home.
The middle island can also be built directly with red bricks, and small white bricks or cultural stones can be pasted on the outside to take a fresh approach. You can choose stone or wooden boards for the countertop. The installation of the wooden boards is particularly simple, that is, it is placed directly on the cabinet and the joints are fixed with glue.
A red brick wall is very thin, so the brick island is usually only used to define the space and cannot store storage. If the brick cabinets and the island are unified, it is another matter. ▲The brick island and wooden boards form a lower countertop. This is how many Japanese ramen shops are arranged.

toilet
Siphon or straight rush?
Direct-flush (flush-down) toilets use the gravity acceleration of water to discharge sewage. The sewage pipe is straight and the water pipe is very thick. It is simple and rough and can easily flush down larger dirt; however, the flushing sound is loud and the water seals the bottom (water is stored). It is shallow and easy to scale. The more obvious disadvantage is that it consumes water.
Siphonic toilets rely on suction/suction. The sewage pipe is S-shaped. When the sewage pipe is filled with water, a water level difference will occur, which will form a suction force to drain away the dirt. This is equivalent to a strong momentum, low sound, and water saving.
It sounds like the siphon type has advantages, but the direct flush type can be applied to all sewer pipes, but the siphon type is not.
For example, some old houses use cast iron sewer pipes with return bends, so they cannot install siphon toilets, because the sewage pipe of the siphon type itself has a curvature, and coupled with the curvature of the sewer pipe, there are "nine twists and turns" along the way. ”, more likely to clog.
Most of the sewer pipes in newly built houses are PVC pipes, which are divided into several types: some have deep S-shaped return bends, which cannot be siphoned; some have return water bends, but the bends are shallow and U-shaped. , you can consider siphon; some do not bring back the water bend, and can use siphon or straight flush. Using siphon can also give full play to the advantage of large momentum.
What kind of toilet should I buy?
According to the overall structure, toilets can be divided into split type, integrated type and wall-mounted type (wall-mounted type).
split toilet
It is an old-timer in the toilet world. As the name suggests, the water tank and the base are separated. The shape is relatively traditional and takes up a lot of space. The gap between the water tank and the base can easily form a sanitary dead corner. Prices range from 600-2,000 yuan.
integrated toilet
The current choice for mainstream families. The water tank and the base are fired as a whole, with no gaps between them, making them easy to clean. The streamlined appearance conforms to modern design aesthetics. Prices range from 2,000-3,000 yuan.
In-wall (wall-hung) toilet
Space saving option. Adopt a wall row design and build a false wall to hide the water tank in the wall, which can reduce flushing noise; the toilet is suspended and there are no sanitary dead corners on the ground. For bathroom brands such as Geberit and Kohler, the price of purchasing a complete set of wall-mounted toilets ranges from 5,000 to 7,000 yuan.
The thickness of the wall-mounted water tank is 17~20cm and must be installed on the load-bearing wall. A steel frame is installed inside the false wall, and the water tank is placed in the bracket. The bracket connects the wall and the ground to divert the weight of the toilet and the human body. The design value of this force-bearing method can reach 400kg, and it is unlikely that it will collapse.
The false wall is usually built with hollow bricks and then tiled on the outside. During installation, an access port for the water tank will be reserved. Most of them are built with half walls, and the platform above can be used to store items for easy access.
Or you can build a whole false wall and use niches to store things. Mirrors can also be embedded in the wall. Similar to the toilet, the washbasin drain is also wall-mounted, which makes the space more integrated.
In addition to appearance, when purchasing a toilet, you must also match the pit distance of the bathroom, that is, the distance from the drain to the wall.
The standard pit spacing of new houses is 305mm or 400mm, which is reserved by the developer to match the 305mm or 400mm toilet; the pit spacing of old houses is not necessarily standard. If the pit spacing is <375mm, choose a toilet with a pit spacing of 305mm. ≥375mm, choose 400mm toilet.
What does a toilet look like?
①Glazed
The main body of the toilet is made of ceramics. The industry standard firing temperature is 1200°, and good brands can achieve a constant temperature of 1280°. The ceramic glaze fired at high temperature has a low moisture content and few tiny pores on the surface, making it less prone to dirt and scaling.
Tap the toilet gently. If the sound is clear and loud, you can initially judge that the toilet has passed the cooking test.
The glaze of a high-quality toilet should be smooth, smooth, and shiny. It is recommended to feel the glaze of the sample with your hands in the store. The more times you use it, the better and the worse will be able to compare.
②Sewage outlet
Of course, it is best for the sewage outlet to have a large pipe diameter, so that you can put your whole hand into the pipe opening.
More importantly, the inner wall of the pipe must be fully glazed. Some products only apply glaze on the visible part of the surface. The depth of the pipe is rough and prickly, and it is easy to get dirty and clogged. So when testing the size of the nozzle, remember to touch around the inner wall.
③Water tank button
There should be no burr resistance when pressing the button. Otherwise, the quality of the parts may not be up to standard, which may easily cause insufficient water in the toilet or leakage in the water tank.
Choose one with two water tank buttons, which can be used in different situations. A small button means a small amount of water. Pressing it will only flush out about half of the water in the water tank, which is more economical.
④Toilet seat (toilet seat)
Although they are all plastic, plastics are also divided into three, six, and nine grades. A good toilet seat should be made of PP and have a damping function. When the toilet seat is closed, it will slowly lower and will not pinch people or make any sound of falling objects. That noise.
Also, sit on it and try it out to see if it feels comfortable.
Installation Precautions
It is best to have a rough idea of what style of toilet to choose before the water and electricity renovation. For example, if you want to install a wall-mounted toilet, it will affect the layout of the false wall and the upper and lower waterways; if you want to install a smart toilet or add a smart toilet cover, you must set aside a socket in advance, usually next to the toilet, with a height of about 300mm from the ground. And stay away from shower areas.
▲Toilet installation steps
After the hard decoration construction is completed, contact the merchant to arrange for the master to come to install the toilet. Ask the master to install the sealing ring (flange ring) to prevent odor.
Finally, the master will put a circle of glass glue between the toilet base and the ground to fix it. If the smell of the pectin is too strong, it is probably inferior glue. It is recommended that you buy a few tubes of better glass glue in advance for backup, because in addition to the toilet, it is necessary to install cabinets, Glass glue is used in many main materials such as wooden doors.
toilet shift
shifter
Using a shifter to shift the toilet is indeed easy to block, but it is not the toilet's fault that the pot is blocked. The pot should be carried by the displaced pipe.
Under normal circumstances (without a shifter), the toilet sends poop directly to the sewer. Now there is an extra shift pipe, and poop has to pass through the shift pipe before entering the sewer.
There is a problem with the displaced pipe, which is prone to blockage. The average sewer pipe is 110mm, and the shifter pipes are mostly flat pipes, and the diameter of the middle pipe will definitely not reach 110mm. For short distances, there is no problem using a shifter. But some of them are shifted by more than one meter with a shifter, and there is no slope. If you don’t block it, who will block it?
How to improve drainage on the same floor?
The so-called same-floor drainage means that the sewerage of your home flows directly from the floor of your home through pipes to the sewer pipes, and the pipes do not pass through the floor slab.
The relocation and renovation of the drainage toilet on the same floor is relatively simple, but there are some things that need to be paid attention to.
When re-planning and laying out sewer pipes, if multiple pipes are connected in parallel, it is recommended to use an inclined tee instead of a straight tee. The inclined tee is easier to clear.
Generally speaking, it will be much more convenient to modify the layout of bathrooms with drainage on the same floor. Because the pipes are all on your own floor, even if you need to modify the layout or change the pipe plan, you can do it directly on your own floor. There is no need to go downstairs to trouble the neighbors and see their faces.
How to modify the drainage between compartments?
compartment drainage
The sewer pipe that drains the floor will pass through the floor slab and reach the top of the neighbor's bathroom downstairs.
If your home has not been renovated, you only need to look up and take a look. If there is a water pipe on the top of your bathroom, it is usually a compartment drainage.
Compartment shifting method 1: Shifter
If you move the toilet a short distance, using a shifter directly is the most convenient way to move the toilet.
The method of using a shifter is only suitable for short-distance shifting. For short-distance shifts of 100-300mm, there is no problem with using a shifter. If it exceeds 300mm, use a shifter. When pre-embedding the shifter, you need to make some slopes (a slope of more than 3% is more appropriate) .
The shifter is not suitable for long-distance shifting. Generally, it is not recommended to use a shifter when the distance exceeds 15cm. Some owners use a shifter to move one or two meters. In this case, it is recommended to leave the phone number of the master who can clear the pipes, or search for thousands of ways to solve the blockage on the Internet, which will always come in handy.
When pre-embedding the shifter, grooves are involved in the ground, which will destroy the original waterproofing of the ground, so waterproofing must be done again.
Partition shifting method 2: get the neighbors
If your toilet has a long displacement distance, it is not suitable to use a shifter. This will test your interpersonal skills.
If you have a good relationship with the neighbor downstairs, go directly to the neighbor downstairs. Re-open the hole in the floor slab and redo the drainage layout on the top of the downstairs bathroom, once and for all.
This modification method does not require grooves in the ground, and it is not as easy to get clogged as a long-distance shifter. But the reality is that few people will agree to renovate your bathroom in this way, and even if the neighbors downstairs agree, you still need to obtain the consent of the property owner.
If you do all this, be sure to do a good job of waterproofing. And when redoing the sewer layout downstairs, there must be a trap, otherwise the smell will return easily. The pipes should be connected to each other and the fittings should be matched to each other, otherwise the interfaces will easily leak.
Partition shifting method three: wall row
The reserved toilet sewer pipe is not needed, and the opening is directly opened in the sewage riser, and the poop is discharged directly into the sewer.
However, this approach also has limitations. The shifting position can generally only be moved to the two walls adjacent to the sewage riser. It is not recommended to move to the two walls opposite the riser. As shown in the picture, it is very easy to move the toilet position to the two walls adjacent to the sewage riser using the wall row shifting method.
Because the two adjacent walls of the sewage riser are displaced, it will only increase the length of some pipes. However, if they are shifted to the diagonal surface of the sewage riser, not only will the length of the pipe be greatly increased, but there will also be corners. , it is necessary to add an elbow, which increases the risk of blockage.
In addition, the wall row also involves a hidden water tank. The water tank needs to be installed inside the wall. Generally, a new wall is directly built to hide the water tank. At this time, when choosing a hidden water tank, you must choose one with excellent quality, because if there is a problem, you will need to remove the wall before repairing or replacing it.
Hiding the water tank requires a new wall to cover it, which will reduce the bathroom space to some extent.
In fact, wall-mounted toilets are a very good choice. There is basically no limit to the shifting distance. Wall-mounted toilets are also beautiful and easy to clean. However, because the toilets used in wall rows are different, the various accessories and installations are different from ordinary toilets. In terms of price, wall rows will be more expensive than other methods.
Partition shifting method four: Raise the ground
Raising the ground is actually similar to drainage on the same floor, except that the pipes are all on the ground. When these pipes are buried later, the bathroom floor will be raised.
As you can see from the diagram above, raising the ground is also a very good way to move the toilet. There are basically not many restrictions on the moving distance, and there is no need to make grooves. But this method requires a lot of work, and the bathroom will be higher than the outside, which is very awkward.
Choose the right toilet shifting method
▲Comparison of different shifting methods
In general, shifting the toilet is quite complicated. Compared with not shifting, the probability of blockage caused by shifting is definitely much greater. Therefore, if you can't change it, don't change it. When encountering some old houses, they still use iron pipes for sewerage, so don't change them easily. As long as the PVC pipes are modified and sealed with glue, they can basically guarantee that they will not leak. If the iron pipes are remodeled and resealed, it will be too much trouble. ..
Moreover, during the relocation, the drainage changes were not done well. If there is a problem, it must be repaired. During the repair, the installed bathroom must be dismantled, the bricks must be removed, the waterproofing must be redone, and workers must be hired... …It’s all just money. If you hadn’t made any changes, the property management would definitely be responsible for this. If you had made changes, you would be responsible for this.
Therefore, it is best to consider the layout of the bathroom when looking at or buying a house, pay attention to the location of the sewer pipes, and ensure that there are few or even no changes when renovating in the future.
Not all toilet blockages are due to toilet displacement. It involves the purchase of toilets and the layout of sewers. Let’s have a chat next time we have a chance~
Dream home remodel
The toilet is moved more than 1 meter, and an exhaust hole is added next to the sewer pipe to speed up the toilet's momentum and promote smooth drainage of the toilet.
(But won’t this cause the odor of the toilet to be discharged upward?)
shower room
What circumstances are suitable for a shower room?
1. The bathroom has a space of more than 900*900mm, which will not affect other equipment.
2. Complete separation of dry and wet is required.
The normal height of the shower head is 2.1 meters, and the height of the shower room is basically above 1.8 meters, ensuring that the shower water does not splash when it falls on the head of the person.
3. If you are afraid of the cold when taking a bath, especially if there are elderly people at home, the shower room can be better kept warm.
What shape to choose for shower room
1. Straight-line shower room
2. Square shower room
3. Diamond shaped shower room
4. Arc-shaped shower room
What are the pitfalls when buying a shower room?
1. Quotation
The general process of purchasing a shower room: The merchant first estimates the quotation, the owner pays a deposit, the bricks are installed and measured at the door, the design drawing is issued, the accurate price is issued, the contract is signed and the full payment is made, the factory is produced, the production cycle is about one month, and finally the door-to-door installation is completed.
The quotation is generally based on square meters. For example, the following two shower rooms, square and arc-shaped, are priced (A B) * height * square meter. There is no "non-standard" in terms of height. You can make it casually, and the highest can be the ceiling. .
2. Materials
①Glass
The common thicknesses of glass are 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm. Generally, 6mm and 8mm are suitable for home use. 10mm and 12mm are much more expensive, because the thicker the glass, the heavier it is, and the strength of other parts must be increased accordingly, so the price increases. It went up on the ground
The shower room must use tempered glass. There is a 3C certification mark on the corner. It should be printed directly on the glass. There is a factory serial number underneath, and it cannot be affixed after the label.
Good tempered glass must at least look transparent, with no impurities, bubbles, or ripples inside, and a flat surface. The sound should be crisp when tapped a few times.
Serious brands of glass have explosion-proof film on the outside, which is affixed at the factory. If the glass does explode, the fragments will stick to the film and will not splash everywhere. There is absolutely no saying that "big brands will not apply films if they have confidence in their own glass." The current glass technology has not yet reached 100% non-explosion. Even the best tempered glass has a self-explosion rate of 2‰~3‰. No one dares to take this risk. risk.
The glass of big brands basically has a lifetime warranty, such as "hardware is guaranteed for ten years and glass is guaranteed for life." Regardless of whether the glass is damaged by man-made or accidental damage, it can be replaced for free.
②Profiles
The frame is like the bones of the shower room. It must have sufficient strength, otherwise no matter how good the glass is, it will not be able to hold it up and fall down.
There are mainly two types of profiles: aluminum alloy and stainless steel. Stainless steel has better strength and durability, and is usually more expensive.
Shower room profiles for home use must have a thickness of at least 1.2mm. A brand must be divided into high, medium and low grades, which may range from 1.2mm to 2.0mm or 3.0mm. The thicker and stronger, the higher the price.
Aluminum alloys are all polished, either bright or matte. Normally, the surface should be smooth without trachoma, and the feel should be smooth. Shower room stores generally have samples cut into sections, and the cross section and inside can be seen. Be smooth and smooth.
③Orbit
Whether the shower room uses tracks or not depends on whether its opening method is a sliding door. Generally speaking, arc-shaped doors are mostly sliding doors, diamond-shaped and square doors are mostly flat doors. For straight-shaped doors, it depends on the situation: sliding doors are more space-saving and suitable for small bathrooms; flat doors must ensure enough opening space and cannot be bumped into thing.
There are two types of tracks, aluminum alloy and stainless steel clad aluminum alloy.
Most of the pure aluminum alloy tracks are curved in a certain arc, because the arch is more resistant to pressure. You can pinch or press the samples displayed in the store. If there is a dent, it proves that the strength is not enough, or the thickness is not enough, or the material itself is relatively poor.
Covering it with stainless steel can enhance the overall strength of the track. Although the inner aluminum alloy track is still curved, the outer layer of stainless steel can be made straight, making the lines look very neat and suitable for a simple style.
The easiest way to judge whether the track is good or not is to just get started without being polite and push and pull it several times to try the feel. It is better if it is not blocked or astringent, has no noise, is smooth and quiet.
④Hardware
Including wall clamps (used to fix the glass on the wall), hinges (used to connect two pieces of glass), etc.
Although some shower rooms do not have profile frames, it seems that they use less materials and should be cheaper. In fact, the smaller the frame, the higher the requirements for connectors and craftsmanship, because the fixed glass depends entirely on the parts on the side.
⑤Water retaining strip
Because the weight of the glass is mainly hung on the frame or track, the water retaining strip is not a load-bearing component and does not need to have high strength. It can be made of PVC or artificial stone. The price is calculated based on the length, ranging from 50 to 200 yuan per meter. Usually Included in the merchant's total quote.
Both PVC and artificial stone are easy to process. They can be made into square or arc-shaped water retaining strips according to the shape of the shower room, and can also be made into various imitation stone designs and colors.
⑥Base
The shower base is a useless design. There are stone ones, and there are also acrylic or resin ones. The latter two are easier to shape, such as making them into arc shapes, but they are not strong enough and prone to collapse.
Drainage through the base is much slower than water flowing directly into the floor drain. If the drain outlet of the base and the bathroom floor drain do not correspond vertically and have to be connected diagonally with water pipes, drainage will be even more unsmooth.
What should you pay attention to when installing a shower room?
1. Water-retaining strips were the first to enter the market. When laying floor tiles, bricklayers embed the water-retaining strips in advance without the need for glue. In this way, one is strong and stable, and the other is that the tiles have a certain drainage slope, but the water retaining strips must be horizontal and cannot be placed on the floor tiles. Therefore, before laying tiles, you need to choose a shower room and pay a deposit before they can allow you to take the waterproofing strip home.
If you really can't bury the water retaining strips before laying the tiles, you can only apply glue on the tiles to fix the water retaining strips. The glue must be of good quality, otherwise the glue will gradually age over time and water will seep out of the shower room.
2. When the installer enters the site, first check whether the materials are the same as those seen in the store. Pay attention to small things such as hardware and pulleys.
3. After installation, check whether the glass is damaged, especially the four corners of each side of the glass, which are weak and easily broken places. It also depends on whether the corners are smooth and whether the chamfers are rounded.
4. Whether it is a sliding door or a flat door, open and close it several times to see if it feels smooth and consistent with the experience you had in the store. If it feels astringent, there may be a problem with the installation. The installer can handle it in time while the installation staff is still here.
Summarize
To put it simply, when buying a shower room, just look at the pieces of glass and metal frames, and the free faucet shower is not the key point; when buying an integrated ceiling, look at the aluminum gusset plates and dragon frames, and don’t be greedy for lights and bathroom heaters; when buying cabinets, look at the plates, It is more reliable to add hardware to the countertop and choose your own range hood and gas stove than to "package and give away" the cabinets.
Replenish
1. About cleaning. You can wipe the inside of the glass after each shower, such as buying an IKEA 9.9 glass scraper, so that too much dirt will not accumulate over time. Because there is an explosion-proof film on the outside of the glass, it is best to wipe it with a soft towel instead of hard objects.
2. The storage rack is very convenient to use. You can install one on the wall in the shower room (if the space is large enough). It is best to have a hanging rod underneath, and you can also put towels on it.
It would be nice if you could dig out a niche, but it would be even better if you add partitions to increase the storage capacity.
Bath heater
Types of bathroom heaters
Light heating type bathroom heater
The function of the light heating type bathroom heater is very single, only heating. The advantage is that it heats up quickly, no preheating is required, and it can be turned on as soon as you wash it.
The disadvantages are also obvious. First of all, the heat radiation range is small, it is warm under the lamp, but not in other places; the heat dissipation is uneven, the scalp is numb with heat, and the soles of the feet are still very cold. Secondly, the brightness is too high. In the past, there were news stories about parents holding their children in the shower, and the children became blind as a result of staring at the bath heater. Finally, there are certain safety hazards, such as blown bulbs and circuit safety issues.
Carbon fiber, gold tube bathroom heater
Both essentially belong to the category of lamp heating, but instead of using traditional light bulbs as the heat source, carbon fiber materials are used, eliminating the glare. The gold tube is a high-end product among carbon fibers and heats up faster.
Although the shortcoming of blindness has been greatly improved, uneven heat dissipation and hot heads and cold feet are still unavoidable. Moreover, the service life is too short and the price/performance ratio is not high, so not many people actually use it.
Air-heated bathroom heater
Commonly known as air heater, it is the current mainstream form of bathroom heater. It is very similar to an air conditioner. It has an air inlet and an air outlet. The air comes in from the air inlet, is heated and then blown out, thereby warming the bathroom. The heating speed is not as fast as that of the lamp, so it needs to be turned on a few minutes before taking a bath.
The power of air heating is large, basically above 2000 watts, and it will consume a little electricity. For example, one light bulb in a lamp heats about 250 watts, and all four bulbs are turned on, which is 1,000 watts, and only 1 kilowatt hour of electricity is turned on for one hour.
However, the improvement in comfort brought by air heating is huge, because the heating method is relatively gentle and the heat dissipation is also balanced, so there will be no hot head and cold feet; and there is no glare and better safety, so air heating has gradually become a mainstream in the market.
summary
In today's era, both lamp heaters and air heaters are no longer simple heating equipment, but multi-functional products that integrate heating, lighting, and ventilation.
The functions are more diverse, such as the cold drying function, which is suitable for bathrooms without windows and effective dehumidification; the hot drying function, which can act as part of a clothes dryer; the air purification function, which prevents odors in the bathroom; the night light function, which does not light too brightly and is convenient Get up at night.
And it continues to develop in the direction of customization and intelligence. It can be integrated into smart home systems, can be voice controlled, remotely preheated, etc.
A few things to know when choosing a bathroom heater
Bathroom area size
For light-warming bathroom heaters, if the bathroom area is less than 4 square meters, it is enough to choose the 2-light type. If it is more than 4 square meters, you can consider the 4-light type.
For air-heated bathroom heaters, merchants will take the initiative to ask about the size of your bathroom and then recommend a power model that can meet the requirements for heating the entire space.
brand
In fact, regardless of lamp heating or air heating, the technical content of the bathroom heater itself is not high, and there is not much difference in price between brands. The principle is to try to choose big brands. Brands that have passed 3C compulsory certification are more secure in terms of safety.
Especially for lamp heaters, don’t choose ones that are too cheap, and the bulbs must have good sealing and waterproof properties. Moreover, all kinds of bathroom heaters should be installed in places where water cannot be splashed.
Things to note when installing
Basically follow the order of reserved circuit for water and electricity renovation - opening vents - suspended ceiling - installing bathroom heater.
Reserved circuit for hydropower transformation
First choose the model of bathroom heater
Let’s first look at the switch mode of the bathroom heater. There are three types: ordinary switch panel type, wireless remote control type, and smart touch panel type.
Wireless remote control and smart touch panel bathroom heaters only require 2 wires, a power cord and a signal wire. Switch panel type bathroom heater may need to be connected with 5 or 6 wires:
The lamp heating type usually has 5 wires, 2 bulbs, 1 ventilation and lighting lamp each, and finally 1 neutral wire; the air heating type usually has 6 wires, 2 warm air wires, cold air, ventilation and lighting One for each lamp, and one for the neutral wire.
Special reminder, although some bathroom heaters look like a lamp, they must be treated as household appliances. Its wires belong to the bathroom socket circuit, not the bathroom lighting circuit, because the bathroom heater is prone to leakage and must be grounded, and the lighting circuit Usually there is no ground wire.
open vents
Bathroom heaters with ventilation function need to use ventilation pipes to connect to the outdoors or ventilation ducts, and open ventilation holes on the wall, with a diameter of about 10 centimeters.
Does this eliminate the need to install an exhaust fan?
In some houses, there are beams on the outer wall of the bathroom, but no hole can be made. There is no solid wall under the beam, only windows, so you can only cut a round hole in the window glass.
suspended ceiling
In terms of materials, there are mainly two types: waterproof gypsum board ceilings and aluminum gusset ceilings.
Aluminum gusset ceilings are also called integrated ceilings. They are the choice for most bathrooms and are suitable for the mainstream air-heated bathroom heaters on the market.
Brands of integrated ceilings usually sell lamps, bathroom heaters and other supporting appliances together, and are responsible for installation and after-sales service. If the integrated ceilings and bathroom heaters are not from the same company, on the day of installation of the ceiling, prepare the lamps and bathroom heaters by yourself, and invite the ceiling installation master to do so while they are around. He installed it.
Install bath heater
If it is a light-warming type bathroom heater, and the bathroom area is relatively large, it can be installed in the shower area, closer to the human body.
If it is an air-heated bathroom heater, the air outlet must be away from directly above the shower, otherwise you will buy an "air-cooled" one instead of an "air-heated" one. ▲Pay attention to the direction in which the wind blows, and don’t blow it towards others
Because when we take a shower, if the wind is blowing directly on the body, it will accelerate the evaporation of water on the body surface, and the evaporation will take away the heat. Even though the hot wind was blowing at 30 degrees Celsius, it felt like cold wind.

Water basin material
01 Ceramic basin
Ceramic basins are currently the most popular ones in China. Although they are popular, they have been tested by the public, which also proves their practicality.
Why are ceramic basins recommended?
Because for household products like this that are used frequently and for a long time, what we pursue is a product that can be used casually and cleaned effortlessly, otherwise we will have to live cautiously every day.
Architectural sanitary ceramics used as sanitary ware are resistant to polishing, water stains, and corrosion. They are durable, easy-care materials, and the overall price is relatively affordable.
What kind of ceramic basin is best?
To judge the quality of a ceramic basin, the first thing to look at is the water absorption rate
The lower the water absorption rate, the less likely it is to deform and crack. If the water absorption rate is less than 3%, it is considered a high-end product, and the water absorption rate of some big brands is even as low as 0.5%.
A little trick when purchasing is to drop a few drops of ink on the surface of the ceramic basin and wipe it off after a few minutes to see if there are any obvious traces. This can easily determine the water absorption rate.
Secondly, we need to "look once, touch twice, and knock three times":
Look at the glaze of the ceramic basin against the light to see if it is bright and free of bubbles, pinholes, blisters, stains, etc.;
Touch it with your hands to see if it is smooth, delicate, and free of lumps;
Hit it with your hands, the crisper the sound the better;
Choice of basin size
It needs to be decided based on the size of your bathroom, the number of people in your home, and your personal usage habits.
For example, if the washing action is large, you can use a larger and deeper one, and the outer diameter is 600mm wide. If you use it alone, you can use a smaller one. Generally, the outer diameter of the basin is not less than 500mm wide. Women can also use 500mm. In this way, you can create more countertops to store cosmetics and skin care products.
02 Acrylic basin
Acrylic is one of the artificial stone materials in home decoration and building materials. The main components of better artificial stone are resin, aluminum hydroxide powder, pigments and other materials, which have a certain proportion.
If the acrylic in the resin refers to the organic compound MMA, and its total amount accounts for 36-40% of the total material, it is pure acrylic. If it is less than 36%, it is called composite acrylic. Its temperature resistance and pressure resistance are definitely not as good as pure acrylic. Acrylic is good. (The chemical name of acrylic is PMMA, which is polymerized from MMA monomer.)
At present, domestic acrylic basins are all made of composite acrylic, which is one of the reasons for the poor performance of acrylic basins.
When we buy acrylic countertops, we can look at the hardness of the acrylic sheet, which can reflect the purity of PMMA, the weather resistance and high temperature resistance of the sheet, and is one of the hard indicators for judging the quality of the acrylic sheet.
There are many on the market that use ordinary organic boards or composite boards instead. Ordinary organic boards have low surface hardness, are easy to fade, and have poor polishing effects after grinding with fine sand. When buying something, you have to be careful about buying fake ones, which is quite tiring. Therefore, acrylic countertops are not highly recommended.
03marble basin
If you choose marble material, the basin and countertop are usually made of one piece. It is processed from natural marble. The material is hard, high in hardness, scratch-resistant, wear-resistant, and has good texture.
But the price is also expensive, and natural marble has cracks in its texture and cannot be hit by heavy objects. Generally, dark-colored marble is prone to water stains. Water purification equipment must be installed to soften the water and reduce water stain residues.
04cement basin
Generally, the basin and countertop are integrated into one piece and poured on-site. To make it look good, the requirements for construction technology are particularly high. It is not easy to make a bathroom cabinet, and the suitable home decoration style is also limited.
Water basins such as metal, stainless steel, tempered glass, and terrazzo have a small market and few manufacturers. The craftsmanship is definitely not mature enough for the public to choose them, so they are not recommended.
Installation method
Undercounter and all-in-one are the choices of 80% of families
desktop
The water basin is installed on the countertop. It can be made into many shapes. It is relatively stable and the installation is relatively simple. You can directly place the water basin on the countertop and apply glue. It is also convenient to replace the water basin. Just remove the glue.
But the problem with the countertop basin is that the top surface of the countertop is not deep enough, and water splashes easily to the outside, turning it into a waterfall when you wash your face.
Moreover, the glued area between the basin and the countertop has a blind spot when cleaning, and it is easy to turn yellow and black, which greatly affects the appearance. These are also the reasons why it is not recommended to install above-the-counter basins in homes. Many hotels install them for the sake of appearance.
Under the table
The water basin is embedded in the countertop, and the outer edge is flush with the countertop, seamlessly connected, and there are no sanitary dead corners. The accumulated water can be swept directly into the basin, making cleaning very convenient.
Undercounter basins are troublesome to install and replace. Once installed, there are basically no problems in using them later.
All-in-one
The basin and countertop are integrally processed to avoid cleaning dead corners to the greatest extent, and installation is also easy.
And it is usually matched with the bathroom cabinet, that is, the integrated bathroom cabinet, which saves you the trouble of customizing the cabinet. However, in terms of material and style, you have to choose the integrated basin that is fixed by the merchant. There is very little room for your own choice, such as the bathroom. The hardware hinges of the cabinet must be from the merchant.
Is the wash basin wall-mounted or vertical?
Wall-mounted or vertical is mainly a matter of aesthetics and cost, which must be considered at the water and electricity stage.
Wall rows Wall-mounted rows are more beautiful, but they are more expensive and difficult to maintain later.
Floor drain: The drain outlet is on the ground, and the basin drain pipe is inserted directly into the floor drain pipe. The drainage is smooth, not easy to block, and easy to maintain. However, the exposed pipe is unsightly and takes up space in the cabinet. The noise is also relatively loud during drainage, which is easy to be caused by the layer. The board is leaking through holes.
Wall drain: The drain outlet is on the wall, and the basin drain pipe is connected to the wall drain pipe and no longer passes through the floor. The leakage problem will not affect the downstairs, but the water pipe will have two 90° bends in the wall, and the water will drain slowly. , easy to clog and high maintenance cost.
Installation Precautions
01 Basin installation height and dimensions
When installing the basin, you must consider the location of the water supply and drainage pipes. Generally speaking, 550mm of clearance should be left on the walls on both sides, which means a total of 1100mm of clearance is needed to install the basin.
?
It is more appropriate to keep the height of the basin from the ground at about half of the height of regular users, generally 800 to 850mm from the ground.
02Installation points
The drainage plug and overflow hole should be aligned with the basin overflow hole as much as possible to ensure smooth overflow;
The connection between the water basin and the drain pipe should be solid, dense and easy to disassemble, and should not be left open;
Be sure to reserve an outlet!
Countertop basin installation
To install a countertop basin, you need to first make a hole on the countertop at a suitable location, and then seal the contact lines between the two with glass glue. For those who choose a countertop basin, be careful not to make the height of the countertop too high.
Undercounter basin installation
It is also necessary to make holes in the custom-made countertop first. The process requirements are high. The basin and the countertop must fit together. Every detail such as alignment, gluing, bonding, and support buckles must be perfectly matched.
Under normal circumstances, if the undercounter basin or countertop is broken, it must be replaced together, so it is recommended to choose a well-known brand with guaranteed quality.
Integrated basin installation
After the integrated basin is delivered to your home, you should check whether the product model is correct and whether there are any problems with the cabinet and spare parts. If so, return it.
Before installation, the triangular valve on the water supply pipe must be installed first, otherwise the installation effect will be affected.
The one-piece basin has cabinet legs, which are generally made of waterproof and moisture-resistant materials. They need to be installed separately. After installation, place the cabinet in the designated position and check whether the water inlet and outlet pipes can be filled and drained normally. If not, adjust them.
03Caulking
The gaps between the basin, the wall, and the countertop must be caulked with mildew-resistant glass glue. This is very important, so I emphasize it separately.
The more expensive the glass glue, the better the performance. Don’t buy glass glue for a few yuan or more than ten yuan for cheap. The adhesive strength, crack resistance, elasticity, and mildew-proof effect will be much worse. Try to buy big brands. Quality is more guaranteed.
According to feedback from Xiaomi decoration group friends, Dow Corning, Toshiba, GE, etc. have good reputations. In recent years, there have been some plastic cements and caulking agents/porcelain caulking agents that can be permanently waterproof and mildew-proof, and you can also choose them.
04Accessories
Faucet
Just choose the one made of 304 stainless steel. The pull-out type is very convenient to use.
One thing to note is that if you feel water splashing when washing your face, it may not necessarily be because the basin is too small, but it may also be because the water from the faucet is too strong! ! ! On the one hand, the faucet has strong water output, so you can choose a wider and deeper basin to better avoid water splashing.
However, if you choose an inflatable faucet, that is, one with a bubbler in the water outlet part of the faucet, the depth of the basin will not be affected. The bubbler can increase the bubble content in the water, playing the role of water saving, softness and anti-splash.
It is recommended to purchase the faucet and basin as a set. The water outlet angle is more suitable and saves worry.
overflow hole
It can prevent the problem of forgetting to turn off the faucet and flooding. It is recommended to choose a basin with an overflow hole. If you want to block it, you can also choose a decorative cover for the overflow hole. There are ones with holes and without holes, and stainless steel will do.
Strainer
The drain is usually provided with the basin. Check whether it can be opened and closed flexibly, not stuck, and does not fall out. It is recommended to choose a flip-type drain, which is easy to clean and replace.
sewer pipe
The sewer pipe is made of stainless steel or ABS plastic, which is anti-aging, anti-corrosion, and has a longer service life. However, it is more expensive than PP plastic. You can choose according to your needs.
It’s the countertop, it’s also the face
The countertop is an important part of the bathroom cabinet. It needs to comprehensively consider anti-fouling, waterproof, cleanliness, aesthetics, economy, etc. Therefore, among many materials such as marble, acrylic, quartz stone, glass, wood, etc., quartz stone is the most recommended Material.
Quartz stone, like acrylic, is a type of artificial stone. It has a hard texture, dense structure, and a water absorption rate of only 0.03%. It is also wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, does not fade or deform, and the price is relatively affordable. Choose it!
Wooden countertops are mainly chosen by many people because they look good, are comfortable, and have good texture.
However, you need to pay attention to waterproofing and anti-corrosion issues. When choosing a basin, choose an integrated basin that is wider and drains quickly. The wooden countertop should be farther away from the faucet.
When it comes to wood selection, if you have enough budget, choose hardwoods, such as oak, beech, etc.; if you don’t have enough budget, choose softwoods, such as cypress, cypress, etc.
The wooden surface must be painted with wood paint, wood wax oil, and treated with waterproofing and antisepsis. Do not soak it in water for a long time, and wipe it off as soon as possible if there is water.
Storage & organization is the soul of the wash area
Make the countertop as big as possible!
Even if you build so many cabinets, you will still find that after washing, you will still unconsciously want to put them on the countertop.
Therefore, a large countertop is a great tool for storage, and coupled with countertop shelves, it is simply not easy to use! Add some small green plants and small ornaments, and it becomes bathroom art.
Open cabinet doors are better than closed cabinet doors for small apartments!
Many people are accustomed to using bathroom cabinets with cabinet doors. The bottom is blocked and debris cannot be seen. It seems to be much tidier. In fact, after long-term use, you will find that closed cabinet doors hide a lot of inconveniences! Firstly, items are prone to mold in closed spaces, and secondly, it is inconvenient to take them out.
Switching to open cabinet doors not only solves the problem of being unable to move the cabinet door in a small apartment, but also solves the moisture problem, and the items are clearly visible and easy to access.
Worried that open cabinet doors are not as tidy as closed cabinet doors, we strongly recommend using "shelf boards + storage baskets" for bathroom cabinet storage! When using it, you only need to pull out the storage basket, which has the same effect as a drawer and is cheaper.
The cabinets under the basin use shelves, telescopic partitions, etc. to increase the storage rate.
The mirror cabinet should not have too many compartments or be too thin. It is easy for electric toothbrushes or larger bathroom bottles to not fit in.
Squeeze the walls dry
If the countertop is really too small and the mirror cabinet is also small, you can also use the wall. Shelves, partitions, and niches are also great ways to utilize walls.
The punch-free storage rack is a great way to store small items. Place the ones with water on the lower level to solve the problem of dripping water getting wet on other items.
When using it, you only need to pull out the storage basket, which has the same effect as a drawer and is cheaper.
When using it, you only need to pull out the storage basket, which has the same effect as a drawer and is cheaper.
Bathroom essentials
Bricklaying essentials
water proof
1. No matter how busy you are and don’t have time to focus on decoration, you must do the closed water test. Inspection standards for closed water test:
When storing water, pay attention to the water level mark and water surface you made to see if there is any obvious leakage. If so, go downstairs immediately to see if there is any leakage.
If there is no obvious water leakage, wait another 24-48 hours, then go downstairs to confirm whether there is any water leakage. At this time, even if you find a little water stain, it means the waterproofing has not been done well. Repair the leakage position again, and then do it again. Closed water test.
2. Waterproof coating height: The wall must be waterproofed for an additional 30 cm. The shower area is 1.8 meters, which refers to the waterproof height of the shower wall. It must be waterproofed for 1.8 meters.
3. It is also recommended to apply 20-30cm more waterproofing on both sides of the door cover, which can reduce moisture return to the door cover to a certain extent.
standing water
Although it is called "slope", when the drainage slope is generally set in a home, the slope drops by about 1cm within 1m, which is difficult to see with the naked eye.
Water accumulation in the bathroom is also related to the floor drain. In terms of location: it is generally placed in the corner of the bathroom, and holes cannot be made in the middle of the tiles.
A Guide to Avoiding Pitfalls
1. After the floor tiles are laid, it is best to pour some water on the ground and do a small experiment to see the effect of the drainage slope. Early detection, early treatment.
2. The location of the floor drain is also very important. Floor drain cannot be made directly on the entire brick. It requires some special processing, such as diagonal cutting method, staggered paving method, etc.
Tile paving
1. It is not recommended to put floor tiles on the wall. If you must put floor tiles on the wall, please use thin tiles (correspondingly, it will also increase the cost)
2. For tiles with low water absorption, it is not recommended to use traditional cement mortar for paving. It is more reliable to use thin tiles (when purchasing wall tiles, be sure to consult the merchant how the tiles should be paved. Generally, merchants in physical stores will Let me tell you, Taobao merchants may forget)
3. Determine with the merchant in advance what method of paving your bricks should be used.
water stop pier
If the bathroom does not have strict dry and wet separation, then there is a high probability that the bathroom door will be exposed to water to a greater or lesser extent.
1. If there is often water at the bathroom door, tell the master in advance and ask him to make a water stop at the bathroom door.
2. The entrance stone is usually 3-5mm higher than the bathroom tiles, which is already very suitable.
floor drain
How many floor drains do I usually need to buy?
Usually a home with one kitchen and one bathroom needs 3 floor drains: 1 for shower; 1 for dry area; and 1 for washing machine.
bathroom
If the washing machine is placed in the dry area of the bathroom, a dual-purpose floor drain is needed. The characteristic is that there is a round hole on the cover, which can just fit into the drain pipe of the washing machine.
Both washing machine water and ground water can pass through the dual-purpose floor drain. With it, there is no need to install a separate floor drain to prevent water leakage in the dry area.
Some people use a washing machine and a wash basin with a tee and a floor drain. It’s best not to do this! If the washing machine and wash basin are drained at the same time, the drainage may not be smooth or water may return, so separate them as much as possible.
balcony
Developers usually reserve a drain. If the washing machine is placed on the balcony, install a dual-purpose floor drain at the drain; if there is no washing machine, just install an ordinary floor drain.
kitchen
If the developer left a sewer, he would install it. If there is no sewer, there is no need to add it (there are fewer and fewer new houses with sewer left in the kitchen). Compared with the bathroom, the chance of water leakage in the kitchen is relatively small, the floor drain is not used normally, and there is also the problem of odor return.
The focus of kitchen decoration should be to ensure the quality of water pipes and valves and eliminate hidden dangers from the source.
Which floor drain should I buy?
First note down the "three principles" when buying a floor drain:
First consider the speed of launching
Second, consider anti-odor and insect-proof
The third consideration is hanging dirty cleaning
The importance of the above three points decreases in order
Gravity flap floor drain
Fastest in the water
The gravity flap floor drain has super smooth water flow and is suitable for scenes such as showers and washing machines where there is a large amount of water in an instant.
There is a gravity block on the left side of the flap. When there is no water, the gravity block sinks to close the flap to prevent odor and insects. The tightness of the flap sealing depends very much on the workmanship of the product, and poor quality products may not be tightly sealed. The material of the flap also has an impact. ABS plastic is lighter than metal and easier to close.
Now there is an advanced type, which solves the problem of lax sealing of the flipper from the design without weakening the water launching speed. It uses magnets at the position of the gravity block to become a "magnetic gravity flipper", which relies on suction. It works together with gravity to close the flap. The advanced model has almost no metal flaps, and they are all made of ABS plastic.
▲Two types of magnetic gravity flaps. From a design point of view, the right one has a better sealing effect.
T type floor drain
There is a spring or magnet in the inner core of the floor drain. When there is no water, it is tightened to achieve a closed, odor-proof and insect-proof. When there is water, the inner core is flushed open to allow drainage.
But the force of the water flow should not be as strong as human hands, right? Therefore, in actual use, the effect is not as good as the gravity flap floor drain.
When the spring is used for a long time, it will gradually lose its elasticity, its sealing performance will become worse, and it will no longer be odor-proof and insect-proof. The inner core needs to be replaced approximately every 3 years, and the specific time depends on the quality of the product. It is not difficult to replace the core. There are threads on the outside of the inner core and it is easy to unscrew it from the floor drain.
The main body and inner core of the T-type spring floor drain are made of metal. It is easy for metal to touch metal to cause loose contact. It is best to choose one with a rubber sealing ring in the inner core.
Magnets are more durable than springs. It is best to choose permanent magnets, which will almost never demagnetize.
U-shaped floor drain
Some water can be stored between the inner and outer cores to form a water seal to achieve anti-odor and insect-proofing. Therefore, it is also called a water-sealed floor drain. There are shallow water seals and deep water seals. Deep water seals store more water and are not easy to dry out, so they are easier to use.
Once the water dries up, it will stop cooking. It can no longer prevent odors and insects, so it is suitable for use in the shower area. It is not suitable for use in dry areas that do not have water for a long time and are only used to prevent water leakage.
Moreover, water falls from the inner core into the outer core, and then flows into the sewer pipe through the hole on the upper end of the outer core. The path is so tortuous, no wonder the water drains so slowly, and dirt is easily blocked inside.
Bounce floor drain
It's similar to the button in the wash basin or bathtub. If it's installed on the floor, you don't have to press it with your hands, you have to step on it with your feet.
The only advantage is that it can be closed to prevent water from leaking out, but if you think about it, there is basically no need for this on the bathroom floor. Who would use the entire bathroom as a big bathtub...
Moreover, it is said that it is easy to accidentally kick...and suddenly feel the pain in the foot.
What material should I buy for floor drains?
No matter what type of floor drain, when disassembled, it can be roughly divided into three parts: panel, main body, and inner core.
body and panels
all bronze:
The highest price, heaviest feel, best surface texture, thickest, strongest, and better corrosion resistance.
There are two surface styles: chrome plating and brushed. Chrome plating is like a beauty. The new floor drain is as bright as a mirror. It will be scratched after being used for a long time, which will greatly damage the beauty. Brushed has a low-key temperament like a gentleman, wear-resistant, and will last for many years. It's still the same as when we first met.
alloy:
The price is low, most of the surfaces are chrome-plated, and they are also shiny. They may pretend to be all copper to sell them at a high price, but they are actually fake beauties. It is best to weigh the weight when buying.
After the chrome plated surface is scraped off, the alloy comes into contact with sewage and has poor corrosion resistance.
304 stainless steel:
The most cost-effective and corrosion-resistant. The surface is mostly brushed and cannot be chromed. If someone recommends you a "304 stainless steel chrome-plated floor drain", they are probably pretending to be an alloy.
Compared with all-copper, stainless steel is like the less beautiful sister next door, but kind and reliable.
Inner core
The inner core is also available in all-copper, alloy, 304 stainless steel, ABS plastic, and silicone.
If it is a U-shaped floor drain or T-shaped spring floor drain, it is best to use all copper or stainless steel, as alloys are more likely to rust;
If it is a T-type magnetic floor drain, in addition to all copper and stainless steel, ABS plastic can also be used, mainly because of the price advantage;
If it is a gravity flap, ABS plastic is more suitable. Its light weight makes it more airtight and corrosion-resistant.
After the inner core of the floor drain is broken, many people try to replace it with a duckbill-shaped silicone core, and then they seem to open the door to a new world. This thing drains water very quickly ~ and it does not rust. Even if it ages over time, replace it with another one. It’s also so cheap that it doesn’t hurt. The disadvantage is that the sealing performance is poor and the anti-odor and insect-proof are not that good.
Oh, and regular plastic. The main body and inner core of some floor drains are made of plastic, which is very cheap and crude. It has no advantages in that it can quickly seal the water. The developer reserves this type for multi-use and must be replaced during decoration.
be careful
What should you pay attention to when buying a floor drain?
1. Determine the specifications, pipe diameter and water depth of each floor drain before buying.
The sewer pipes left by the developer are all national standards, with a pipe diameter of 50mm (75mm in some cases) and a sewer depth of more than 15cm. Basically all types of floor drains can be used;
This is not necessarily the case for sewer pipes added or moved after decoration. The pipe diameter is 40mm and the sewer depth is often not enough. U-shaped deep water seals and relatively long gravity flaps may not be installed. So be sure to ask the foreman clearly.
2. You should buy a double-protection shower area, that is, there is a filter under the cover, which can effectively block hair.
3. It is best to choose a brand with a certain scale and complete accessories that can be purchased separately. When a leaky accessory needs to be replaced, it is better to use the same brand, such as the inner core or filter. For example, some brand stores provide a lifetime warranty. For example, if the spring is worn out, you can replace it with a new one for free at any time, which is convenient and trouble-free.
What should you pay attention to when installing a floor drain?
1. After the water and electricity acceptance, you should start to choose the floor drain. Buy it before laying the tiles. When the bricklayer is laying the tiles, give the floor drain and packaging to him for installation.
2. When checking and accepting the tiles, pour half a bucket of water into the area with the floor drain to see if the water can flow into the floor drain normally and be drained away to verify whether the floor drain installation and drainage slope (about 2~3%) are OK.
3. The original drainage location reserved by the developer should be kept as unmodified as possible, because the modified pipes are prone to blockage or leakage, and some will raise the original ground level. If you must change it, be sure to prevent leaks.
4. You can consider pre-embedding a water trap in the bathroom. This is the most primitive method of preventing odors and insects. It is simple and crude but effective.
But there is a problem. Most residential buildings have lower-level drainage. That is, the sewer pipes of your house are pierced through a hole in the floor to reach the neighbor's house downstairs, and then someone makes a suspended ceiling to cover the pile of pipes. The pre-embedded water trap needs to be constructed downstairs. If the decoration is completed, they will definitely not let you lift the ceiling. If the decoration is not completed, they may not agree.
It would be more convenient if the drainage is on the same floor. Most of your bathrooms are sunken and can be modified directly.
Add some little knowledge
1. Is the kitchen waterproof?
If there is a floor drain, just do it. It only costs a few hundred yuan to make waterproofing anyway. However, if there is no threshold stone or height difference at the kitchen door, water will flood out in minutes. If there is no floor drain, it is equivalent to conveying "there is no water here that needs to be drained." ” means, there is no need to waterproof it.
After waterproofing, a closed water test must be done. Only if the test is passed is it meaningful to do waterproofing. The water released in the test will eventually flow away through the floor drain. If there is no floor drain, you can only scoop out ladle after ladle...
2. If the floor drain smells bad, first check whether the inner core is aging and needs to be replaced, and then check whether the contact between the inner core and the main body is loose; if the drain interface of the wash basin smells bad, you can stuff some soft plastic bags in the gap.
3. If the floor drain is blocked, the first reaction must be to clear it instead of smashing the floor. Both liquid and powder dredging agents are unreliable. They will slip away as soon as there is a small gap when you pour them in. It is best to use large granular ones and pour them in at once so that they can stay in the clogged area for a while.

Anti-odor in bathroom
The first source of odor: floor drain
U-shaped floor drain
The "U"-shaped water trap formed by using large pipes inside small pipes is divided into shallow water sealing floor drains and deep water sealing floor drains according to how much water can be stored in the water trap. Nowadays, shallow water sealing floor drains have basically been eliminated, because anti-odor and insect-proofing all refer to Seal the floor drain by storing water in a water trap. The water that can be stored in a shallow water trap is very small, and it will evaporate in a short time, so there is no need to worry about it.
Therefore, U-shaped floor drains are not suitable for places with less water accumulation, such as kitchens and balconies, because over time, no matter how deep the water seal is, it will eventually dry out. Another problem is that dirty things are easily left in the drain (especially hair) and cannot be flushed away. Not only does it become one of the sources of odor, but it may also clog the drain over time.
T type floor drain
Direct drainage, large water volume, impurities and dirt are directly flushed into the sewer with the water flow, and will not hide dirt and evil practices. The probability of blockage is low, and it is suitable for any place in the home that requires a floor drain.
The anti-odor performance of the T-type floor drain relies entirely on its gravity-flip design. There is a cover plate underneath. The cover plate is naturally tightly closed. When draining water, the water flow forces the cover plate open. After the water is drained, the cover plate Falling back due to gravity and attracted by magnets, the cover will return to its original position and be firmly attracted.
In terms of anti-odor effect alone, T-type ≥ U-type for deep water sealing > U-type for shallow water sealing. However, the choice of floor drain is affected by many factors. You can refer to the above.
The second source of odor: water from the wash basin
There are two types of water pipes under the wash basin. One is with an S-shaped water trap. It is inserted directly into the sewer and sealed with glass glue. The other is without a water trap. Just bend the hose into a return shape first. , then insert it and seal it with glass glue.
So you see, the sewer pipe must have a trap, and the connection with the sewer pipe must be sealed to prevent odor and insects. If there is an odor, it is most likely caused by a loose seal.
At present, in order to prevent odor, there are many new things on the market, such as this "sealing cover" used between the wash basin and the sewer pipe. To put it bluntly, the T-shaped floor drain core is inserted into the wash basin sewer pipe. Except for special It is not recommended except under certain circumstances, because adding something will more or less affect the speed of water discharge, and it may become clogged after a long time.
The third source of odor: toilet
The most common reason for toilet odor is that the flange ring is not sealed properly. Is the flange circle a magic horse? It is something used to seal the gap between the toilet, the sewage outlet, and the floor tiles. It can prevent the sewage from the toilet from flushing out of the sewage pipe and prevent odor.
The flange ring is made of ABS at the ground interface, and the sealing part is made of plasticine with strong plasticity. The sealing effect is achieved by wrapping the toilet drain outlet and compressing it by the toilet's own gravity.
The fourth source of odor: exhaust check valve
The kitchen exhaust vent is connected to the range hood, and the bathroom exhaust vent is connected to the air heater/bath heater. They are usually invisible because they are hidden in the ceiling. If the exhaust outlet is not installed with a check valve or is not installed properly, odor may also occur.
The function of the check valve is to "only go out but not in". There is a fan at the exhaust outlet of the bathroom (the kitchen does not use a fan and relies on the suction of the range hood). There is a check valve outside the fan. When the fan starts to work, the check valve The flap is opened by the airflow to discharge the gas. When the fan stops working, the flap will automatically fall down and seal to prevent odor reversion.
By doing the above, you can basically block the source of the odor. The installation of floor drains, sewer pipes, flanges and check valves is not difficult. If you are renovating, you can ask workers to help. Those with strong hands-on skills can also try to solve it by themselves. It should be noted that before purchasing the product, measure the size. If possible, it is best to consult your own foreman.
In fact, odor in the bathroom is not particularly common in new houses, but in old houses that are more than ten years old, odor problems are likely to occur due to the aging of various components. It is recommended that you check carefully, because along with the odor, there are thousands of other The germs are more harmful to families with elderly people and children.
Some tips
1. Pay attention to the ventilation of the bathroom. If it is a secret bathroom without windows, use an exhaust fan for ventilation after using the toilet;
2. Pay attention to moisture-proofing. Domestic bathrooms often cannot achieve standard dry and wet separation. Humid environments are prone to breed bacteria and mold. Pay attention to keeping the floor dry and wipe away accumulated water in time;
3. Bathroom floor mats tend to harbor dirt and grime. If not cleaned in time, they will produce odors over time;
4. Prepare freshener or aromatherapy in the bathroom, but only after the problems listed above have been investigated and solved. Do not try to cover up the odor with fragrance;
5. Place one or two pots of green plants, which can slightly remove odors (the main function is to make you feel better). Bathrooms usually have poor lighting, so you can choose plants that are shade-tolerant and easy to grow, such as spider plants, pothos, etc.
glass glue
Do I need to buy glass glue myself?
It depends on the situation
Most decoration companies and installers will bring their own glass glue, but in order to save money, they may choose poorer glass glue, which is not strong in viscosity, has poor stretchability, and has poor anti-mildew effect. Generally, problems such as blackening, mold, rot, and cracking will occur within 6 months at most.
So ask in advance what kind of glass glue they use. If it's not good, prepare it yourself.
Classification of glass glue
From a performance perspective, glass glue is mainly divided into three types: acidic, neutral, and nail-free glue.
①Acid glass glue
There is an obvious pungent smell after opening, the viscosity is very strong, and the curing time is short. The surface can usually be dry in about 2 hours, and can be completely cured in 24 hours.
It is corrosive to a certain extent, so many things cannot be used, such as mirrors. It will corrode the coating behind the mirror.
But for places that require particularly strong adhesion, such as the dumb areas behind wooden lines, it is best to use acid glass glue.
②Neutral glass glue
No pungent odor or corrosiveness. However, the viscosity is weak and the curing time is slightly longer. It usually takes 3 to 4 hours for the surface to dry and 48 hours to fully cure.
For glass glue of the same brand and series, neutral glue is generally 3 to 4 yuan more expensive than acid glue. Because neutral glass glue has little smell and is non-corrosive, it is the most widely used in interior decoration.
Neutral glass glue is divided into mildew-proof sealant, weather-resistant sealant, stone sealant, pipe sealant, aquarium-specific glue, etc. Different glues are suitable for different occasions. For example, in humid places such as kitchens and bathrooms, anti-mold glue should be used; windows should use weather-resistant glue...
③Nail-free glue
It can be regarded as an enhanced version of neutral glass glue, which combines the advantages of acidic and neutral glass glue. It has strong adhesion, good load-bearing capacity, and is non-corrosive. The price is 2 to 3 times that of neutral glass glue.
The curing time is roughly the same as that of neutral glass glue, and it has a certain degree of waterproofness, but it is not as good as anti-mold glue, so it is not used for kitchen and bathroom sealing. Nail-free adhesive is often used to adhere heavier items and walls, such as mirrors, picture frames, etc.
color
There are many colors of glass glue. Common colors include black, porcelain white, transparent, silver gray, bronze, etc. Try to choose colors that match the applicable occasion and profile. If there is really no matching color, just choose a transparent color.
price
Don't buy glass glue for a few yuan or more than ten yuan for a small price, as the bonding strength, crack resistance, elasticity, and anti-mildew effects will be much worse.
Mid-range glass glue is basically more than 25 yuan/piece; high-end glass glue is about 80 yuan/piece or more. The more expensive the product, the better the performance.
Try to buy glass glue from big brands to ensure better quality. According to feedback from group friends, brands with good reputations include: Dow Corning, Toshiba, GE, etc.
An ordinary house with 3 bedrooms and 1 living room may need about 15 pieces of glass glue. Based on the mid-range glass glue of 25 yuan/piece, it will cost about 600 yuan.
Is there any glass glue that won't turn black and moldy?
One of the most troublesome aspects of using glass glue is that it can become moldy. Is there any glass glue that will never turn black or moldy? Let me tell you simply, rudely and responsibly: No.
This is because the glass glue we usually use in home decoration is silicone glue, and its main component is sodium silicate. Silica gel has a porous structure, with many pores on the surface and inside. When it is wet with water, many molds and other microorganisms will grow on the surface and gaps of the glass glue. Over time, the glass glue will turn yellow and black.
In the national standards, the anti-mold effect is divided into levels from 0 to 4, and the conventional mold culture cycle is 28 days. In other words, the best anti-mold effect level 0 glass glue only shows no obvious mold growth within 28 days when magnified 50 times.
So there is nothing wrong with what the merchants say, as long as there is no obvious mold growth within 28 days, it is anti-mold glue. However, ordinary anti-mold glass glue will turn yellow, then black and moldy within a few months; good and expensive anti-mold glass glue can only last for a year or two, and will eventually become moldy.
It is not terrible if the surface turns yellow or black. You can use a toothbrush and detergent (bleach water, 84 disinfectant water, etc.) to clean it off. Once the mold grows inside the glass glue, there is no way to save it. You can only scrape it off and apply it again. However, moldy glass glue is also easy to scrape off. Generally, you can use a utility knife with a steel wool ball to scrape it clean.
Is there anything that can replace glass glue?
In recent years, there have been some new products that can be permanently waterproof and mildew-proof, and are used by many people to replace glass glue. Among them, the most popular ones are: plastic steel clay, beauty joint agent/porcelain joint agent.
①Plastic steel clay
Its main component is epoxy resin curing agent. Its properties similar to porcelain determine that it will never grow mold and can be permanently waterproof, mildew-proof and yellow-proof. There will only be dirt attached to the surface, but it will be clean and bright again with a toothbrush. .
Moreover, the construction is easy, the sealing is very good, and it is not ugly. It is perfect, isn’t it? However, the adhesive force of plastic steel clay is super strong. After solidification, it is like cement and is difficult to scrape off.
If it needs to be repaired or replaced later, it will be very troublesome. The glass glue is very easy to remove, making it easier to replace furniture later. Therefore, plastic steel mud is not suitable for places that require frequent maintenance, such as sewers.
②Beautiful seam agent/porcelain seam agent
Sealing agents and porcelain jointing agents are mostly used for jointing of ceramic tiles. Porcelain jointing agent is an upgraded product of seaming agent.
The main component of caulking agent is resin curing agent, which is the same as plastic cement and can be permanently waterproof and mildew-proof. But the difference is that the texture of the caulking agent is softer, which is similar to glass glue. Seam sealant has more colors than glass glue and looks better. Therefore, many people think of using it instead of glass glue for waterproof sealing in kitchens and bathrooms.
However, caulking agents also have disadvantages. Generally, in areas with relatively large gaps, using caulking agents is a waste of material. And the result is not as good-looking as glass glue, which is thankless and laborious.
Porcelain caulking agent is very similar to plastic cement. Its main component is also epoxy resin curing agent. It has a hard texture and is difficult to remove once it is bonded and solidified.
In addition, although the prices of plastic cement and caulking agent are much cheaper than before, they are still more expensive than glass glue. The price of one tube of caulking agent can buy many tubes of glass glue.
Summarize
For small seams, you can use seam sealant instead of glass glue, but for large seams, it is not suitable to use seam sealant.
You can consider using plastic steel mud in bathtubs, toilets, etc. that do not need to be replaced frequently, as well as in some dead corners and gaps that are difficult to clean such as cabinets and bathroom cabinets. However, if it is used in sinks and other places, it is necessary to consider the difficulty of subsequent maintenance and removal.
One final reminder: use plastic cement and caulking agent instead of glass glue. It is best to only use it in places that are often exposed to water and moisture, such as the kitchen and bathroom. Glass glue is still used in other places such as doors, windows, floors, baseboards, etc. Firstly, it is more suitable, and secondly, it is more cost-effective.
For example, the gap between the floor and the wall is not suitable for plastic cement. Because the floor will expand with heat and shrink with cold, and plastic clay is hard in texture, it will easily damage the floor after curing. In this case, it is more suitable to use glass glue, because glass glue is elastic and only covers the surface of the gap and will not affect the expansion and contraction of the floor.
How to make beautiful glass glue?
Applying glass glue is generally not just a cost, it is included in the construction quotation. But in some special cases, you really need to apply the glue yourself. The specific steps are as follows (the same applies to plastic cement and seam sealant):
① Prepare a glue gun (the market price is about 10 yuan, usually bundled with glass glue, for example, if you buy a few cans of glue, you will get a free gun). If you are good at it, you can just squeeze it with your hands;
② Wipe and dry the surfaces of the two objects to be bonded;
③ If you are afraid that the glue will not be glued properly, you can use two strips of masking paper on the surface to be glued to ensure that the final glass glue will look beautiful;
④ Install the glass glue on the glue gun according to the instructions. You need to open the opening of the glass glue nozzle by yourself. First, open a smaller opening diagonally. If it is not enough, then expand it. The glue nozzle is pressed against the surface of the object to avoid hanging in the air. Squeeze slowly, maintain a 45° angle, and apply glue horizontally along the gap in equal amounts at a constant speed. Because it’s protected by textured paper, it doesn’t matter if it’s a little crooked;
⑤Finally, use a hanging board or your fingers to smooth out the glue to make the interior of the glue tighter and the surface smoother, and then peel off the masking paper;
⑥ Let it sit in ventilation for 24 hours for acid glass glue and 48 hours for neutral glass glue.
