MindMap Gallery Mind Map of The Aeneid
The Aeneid mind map is Adventure based Epic Poem written by Virgil. The poem begins with the Trojan fleet sailing towards Italy when they are shipwrecked by a storm off the coast of North Africa, which is caused by Juno, the goddesses' ruler, who despises them and wishes to prevent them from reaching Italy and achieving their destiny. They meet Queen Dido, the head of the Carthaginians, who have recently arrived from Phoenicia (modern Lebanon and Syria) and are establishing Carthage as a new city. Aeneas informs Dido about the fall of Troy and his subsequent journeys throughout the Mediterranean. He and Dido quickly fall in love, but Aeneas is in the danger of forgetting his goal in Italy, so Jupiter sends his messenger Mercury to remind him of his responsibilities. Aeneas goes to the underworld to see his father's ghost, and he sees the souls of the future great Romans there. There they meet a Greek, Achaemenides, one of Ulysses' men, who has been left behind when his comrades escaped the cave of Polyphemus. They take Achaemenides on board and narrowly escape Polyphemus. Shortly after, at Drepanum, Aeneas' father Anchises dies of old age. Aeneas heads on (towards Italy) and gets deflected to Carthage (by the storm). Here, Aeneas ends his account of his wanderings to Dido.
