MindMap Gallery Math Concept Map of Integration
This Integration Math Concept Map is a visual way of organizing information and recording links between known mathematical concepts and procedures within and between topics. Concept maps are a metacognitive strategy (HITS Strategy 9) that assists students in organizing their thoughts as an intermediate step rather than a result in and of itself (Fisher, Frey, and Hattie, 2016). These visual representations in mathematics require students to communicate information while supporting their learning (Armstrong, Ming & Helf, 2018). The activity below demonstrates how students can be explicitly taught to create Math Concept Maps of Integration so that they can later use them independently as a step in completing a problem.
