Light and color: visible light wavelength 380nm-780nm
Red is the most eye-catching
green most peaceful
Purple is the most low-key
The Origin and Development of Four Seasons Color Theory
In 1974, Carol Jackson, the "First Lady of Color" in the United States, discovered the "Four Seasons Color" theory through more than 40,000 color tests.
In 1983, the British Mary Sprangy expanded the four-season colors to twelve-season colors and combined them with the style theory.
In 1984, Japanese Yasuko Sato introduced the four-season color theory to Asia for the first time and developed the four-season colors belonging to Asians.
In 1998, the Four Seasons Color Theory entered China for the first time.
In 2002, Ivy Color Studio was established to continue and improve the four seasons colors to make them more suitable for Chinese people.
The meaning of the colors of the four seasons: Corresponding, analyzing and classifying a person's innate skin color, hair color, eye color and other human body color characteristics with the complex scientific theories of color in the universe to form a harmonious matching pattern.

2. Color classification and three primary colors
Color classification
1. Colorful: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple
2. No color: black, white and gray
3. Special colors: refers to metal, soil, trees, amber and other colors that originally exist in nature and cannot be blended or fully expressed with pigments.
The three primary colors of pigments VS the three primary colors of light
1. The three primary colors of color materials: red (magenta), yellow (lemon yellow), and blue (cyan).
The three primary colors of color materials - the more mixed, the darker - the brightness decreases - subtractive color mixing
2. The three primary colors of light: red, green, and blue (purple-blue).
The three primary colors of light - the more mixed, the brighter - the brightness increases - additive color mixing
Color materials: three primary colors, secondary colors, and complex colors
Primary colors: Colors that cannot be mixed with other colors, red, yellow, and blue.
Secondary color: a new color formed by mixing two pairs of primary colors, such as orange, green, and purple.
Compound color: A new color formed by mixing a secondary color with other colors. It can be mixed infinitely.
3. Three major international color systems
1. American Munsell color system, features: This system judges the strength of the three attributes of hue, brightness, and purity through feeling. Munsell's three-dimensional color, although irregular in shape, is the closest to the real color system.
Industrial and manufacturing industries for accurate classification and calibration of object surface colors
2. German Ostwald color system, characteristics: Conceptually, it forms a shape with very regular color distribution, just like two cones buckled together. It is an ideal system that does not exist in reality.
Printing Industry
3. Japanese PCCS hue chart/hue circle. In 1964, the Japan Color Research Institute developed a color system for the purpose of harmonizing color matching. In layman’s terms, hue is the tone and tone of a color, that is, the basic tendency of the appearance of a color group.
Color education, fashion image design related fields: including human body color, clothing, makeup, etc.
The three systems have the same point: they all use the "color tree", which is a three-dimensional color expression system. The vertical axis expresses brightness and the horizontal axis expresses purity.
4. Three attributes of color
Hue
The appearance or artificial name of a color
brightness
The degree of lightness and darkness of a color. The two extremes of lightness are white and black.
High brightness - add white, color language: light and clean, range value: 9.5-7.5
Medium lightness - add gray, color language: hazy/turbid, range value: 6.5-4.5
Low lightness - blackening, color language: heavy and dull, range value: 3.5-1.0
purity
The brightness and saturation of a color. The more hue content, the higher the purity and the brighter it is.
High purity: 7s-9s
The hue content is greater than or equal to 80%, bright, dynamic and energetic
Medium purity: 4s-6s
Hue content is approximately equal to 50%, gentle, quiet and mature
Low purity: 1s-3s
The hue content is less than or equal to 20%, turbid, dark and light
Notice
1. The purity of hue is not directly proportional to the brightness. High purity does not mean high brightness.
2. Achromatic color only has brightness but no purity.
12.5 Course Summary
1. The three primary colors of dye are red, yellow and blue, and the color matching method is subtractive color mixing. The three primary colors of light are red, green and blue, and the color matching method is additive color mixing.
2. Mastering the Japanese PCCS hue circle is the basis for color matching.
3. Among the three attributes of color, hue/brightness/purity should be analyzed through pictures and clothes.
