MindMap Gallery Virus classification
Virus classification mainly involves the domain attribution of viruses, Baltimore classification, and morphology-based classification. Although the domain attribution of viruses is still debated, they are often classified into a separate "Viruses" domain or considered non-living entities. The Baltimore classification divides viruses into seven major groups based on their nucleic acid type (DNA or RNA) and whether it is single-stranded or double-stranded. Additionally, morphology-based classification categorizes viruses based on their shapes, such as helical, icosahedral, and complex shapes.
