Introduction to butanone

Butanone (2-butanone) is a colorless transparent liquid with a slight odor, having a melting point of -78°C and a boiling point of 79.6°C. It is flammable and capable of reacting with various organics to form ketone compounds. Butanone has wide applications in various fields, including as a solvent, paint thinner, resin diluent, and pharmaceutical intermediate. The production methods of butanone include n-butanol dehydrogenation and ethyl acetate reduction, among which n-butanol dehydrogenation is one of the most commonly used methods in industry.
