MindMap Gallery The Origin and Discovery of Oracle Bone Script
Originating from the Shang Dynasty, oracle bone script was primarily used for sacrifices, divination inscriptions, and other purposes, serving as crucial writing for the royal aristocracy of the Shang Dynasty to record divination, sacrifices, and other activities. In 1899, Wang Yirong, the sacrifice official of the Imperial College in the Qing Dynasty, accidentally discovered oracle bone script in the ruins of Yinxu in Anyang, Henan Province. Initially mistaken for dragon bone medicine, it was later recognized by scholars and has become significant material for studying ancient Chinese history and culture.
