Introduction to cresol

Cresol is a phenolic compound, primarily consisting of ortho-cresol, meta-cresol, and para-cresol, existing as colorless to light yellow liquids at room temperature. Due to its strong bactericidal properties, cresol is widely used in disinfectants and preservatives. However, it is toxic and irritating, requiring careful handling. Obtained mainly from coal tar refining, cresol is an important raw material in the chemical industry.
