Introduction to Aluminum Sulfate

Aluminum sulfate is a white or colorless crystal that forms an acidic solution when dissolved in water. During hydrolysis, it generates aluminum hydroxide colloids, which have a strong water purification effect and can effectively remove suspended solids and impurities from water. Aluminum sulfate is widely used in water purification treatment and is also an important auxiliary in the papermaking industry and leather tanning. Its preparation methods include reacting bauxite with sulfuric acid or aluminum hydroxide with sulfuric acid. However, aluminum sulfate is irritating, and care must be taken to avoid inhalation and skin contact.
