Introduction to Copper Sulfate

Copper sulfate is a blue crystal that forms a blue solution when dissolved in water. It exhibits various chemical properties, reacting with bases to produce copper hydroxide precipitate and displaying both oxidizing and reducing properties. Copper sulfate is commonly used as a fungicide in agriculture, as well as a wood preservative and in electroplating materials. Its preparation methods include reacting sulfuric acid with copper or heating copper with concentrated sulfuric acid. However, copper sulfate is toxic, and care must be taken to avoid skin contact and inhalation.
