Introduction to Zinc Sulfate

Zinc sulfate is a colorless or white crystal that is soluble in water. It reacts with bases to produce zinc hydroxide and exhibits astringent properties. Zinc sulfate is commonly used as a fertilizer additive in agriculture to increase crop yield, as an auxiliary in textile printing and dyeing to improve dyeing effects, and as an important ingredient in pharmaceutical raw materials. Its preparation methods include reacting zinc with dilute sulfuric acid or zinc oxide with sulfuric acid. Although zinc sulfate is low in toxicity, excessive intake should still be avoided.
