Introduction to Potassium Hydroxide

Potassium hydroxide is a strong alkaline substance that is usually white in solid or tablet form, highly soluble in water, and has strong hygroscopicity. It is widely used in soap manufacturing, battery electrolyte formulation, and oil refining. However, it is highly corrosive and must be kept away from heat sources, and avoided from inhalation or ingestion. It is mainly produced as a by-product of the electrolysis of saturated saltwater.
