MindMap Gallery Understanding and Supporting Latinx LGBTQ+ Students in Academia
This critical examination delves into the challenges faced by Latinx LGBTQ+ students within the academic sphere. The study addresses three core areas: discrimination, identity, and academic performance. We explore the prevalence of homophobia and transphobia and its severe consequences on student well-being. Additionally, we shed light on the social stigma related to gender identity within the Spanish-speaking community and its impact on the visibility and acknowledgment of trans individuals. The research also highlights disparities in academic success between heterosexual Caucasian students and those from the LGBTQ+ community, emphasizing the need for inclusive and supportive educational environments.
