Basic Literacy-Numeracy – refers to the ability to read, write, and count. Everyone, including indigenous peoples, is expected to know this basic information because it is the foundation for subsequent learning. Because it happens on a daily basis, this is highly important to anyone.

Indigenous peoples are always learning. They educate their children in temples, good settings, and even private homes. Schooling also takes place for them in rivers, fields, or while hunting, wandering, or farming. It's as simple as watching and doing. This is important for them since it is their means of preserving their culture, particularly the talents they pass on to their offspring in order to keep their culture alive and maintain their distinct skills.

School as a venue of discrimination – Discrimination continues to be one of indigenous students' painful experiences, with school serving as a crucial forum for such events.

The Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997, or Republic Act (RA) No. 8371 – requires all government agencies to recognize and promote the rights of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in the context of national unity and growth.

The IP-focused Curriculum Framework intends to guide public and private schools, as well as other education programs, in their interactions with indigenous communities in order to localize, indigenize, and upgrade K–12 curriculum based on their educational and social contexts. The rights of indigenous peoples are acknowledged in the education.

Communication Skills – This strand facilitates good communication among Indigenous peoples. They can use a variety of media and information to function well as family, community, and world members, as well as actively participate in the community.
