most of the word’s trade is between the richer countries

richer countries tend to sell ‘expensive’ manafactured good and buy ‘cheap’ primary goods. E.g. coffee, metal ores, fish

poorer countries (e.g. Kenya) tend to sell the cheap primary good and buy the expensive manafactured food they cannot make. as a result they spend more money than they earn. this trade imbalance keps to widen the development gap.

but it had an opposite effect, much of the land was given to government supporters with little experience of farming. as a result, the production of crops to eat and trade collapses. The economy failed and left many dependent on international food aid.
