Tare Westover, American historian and author. Born in 1986 in the mountains of Idaho. Never went to school before the age of 17. He was admitted to Brigham Young University through self-study and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008. He subsequently received the Gates Cambridge Scholarship and received a Master of Philosophy degree from Cambridge University in 2009. In 2010, he received a scholarship to study at Harvard University. In 2018, his debut novel "You Be Like a Bird Flying to Your Mountain" was published. In 2019, he was named "Influential Person of the Year" by Time Magazine for this book.
