Created an opportunity to share knowledge and assist those new to the world of Football coaching, while sharing our most admirable parts about the voluntary positions we fill.
Recently I was involved in a course that required a vast amount of learning and involvement to achieve the certification of level 1 football (soccer) coach, to then move onto a diploma C of Football coaching. The certification was -Foundations of football- where the areas of- ‘So change it’, principals of defence/attack, and the play/train/play processes, for successful training, engagement of players and session for game play, were modules included within the course. Throughout this mapping process, I discovered a lot about the learning I took away from the course and the way in which I learn. Being a coach for 5 years within the football community, I utilised my educator training to become successful at it and in turn continue to enjoy the experience of coaching. This activity added substance to the whole coaching experience though, and allowed me to revisit and actually acknowledge, use what I resonated with and recognise the affordances that came with the lengthy process of the course, making me mindful of the processes that will benefit the teams I coach, being they are different ages and skill intensities, u9s and u12s community football and u11s development football team.
