IELTS Listening
Fill in the blanks
Review the questions and look at the word count requirements; underline key words, circle test points, and predict answers (check plural numbers, parts of speech, capitalization)
The answer is relatively straightforward, and there is no need to struggle over and over again like reading; Note that one word and/or a number can be filled in with two words such as 46 Wombat; The word before of is very important; The answer comes after hearing why not/why don't/why about; their can be followed by the singular or the plural, most of the time it is the singular; Most of the time what follows any is plural; You must have an overall view. Don't listen to a question if you haven't heard it. Scan your eyes to the next question and follow it; Of the 10 questions, 3-5 will be repeated; The title word will not appear in the answer
Multiple choice questions
Scan the question stem and options, underline key words, and circle test points (substitution, words with the same root, time, rising and falling, prefix and suffix, comparison to the highest, money-related)
The answers are all direct, don’t make inferences if you don’t understand clearly;
While listening, verify the test points and eliminate them
Exactly identical options are to be eliminated; Monologue-style text, but the preceding content must be excluded; Partially overlapping options are not necessarily correct answers; Try not to choose options that contain absolute words. One of the similar options that does not contain absolute words must be the correct answer; parallel exclusion; If the option appears before the key words in the question are revealed, do not select it.
Multiple choice questions
Review the questions and look at the word count requirements; underline key words, circle test points, and predict answers (check plural numbers, parts of speech, capitalization)
Usually it’s 2 out of 5, but you’ll hear 4-5 options; The exclusion you will definitely encounter is negative exclusion.
Map question
If southeast, northwest and southeast are given in the graph, mark southeast and northwest. If there is no southeast and northwest, then mark tblr, up, down, left and right.
First browse all the landmark buildings and roads on the map to find the entrance.
Turns are bends; corridors are corridors
The next question will not be based on the position of the previous question as the starting point; questions are all given in order, so don’t panic
Matching questions
Test method: There will be at most one substitution in the question stem and option. Predict which one may not be substituted first.
Then look at the parts that will be changed, underline key words, circle test points, and predict possible substitutions.
Then start listening to the questions on the side that is not changing, remember the keywords, and then finally map the options to the keywords.
Question-and-answer questions, consensus is the correct answer
I hear exactly the same words, and they are test words again, so I basically don’t choose them.
Long and difficult single choice
Test method: It is usually a conversation between two people. You need to review the question to see whose point of view it is, and pay attention to whether you agree or disagree.
