HMW Method

HMW, also known as "How Might We," or "What can we do?" is a problem-solving method of thinking. Among them, "How" means assuming that the problem can be solved, but we do not yet know how to solve it; "Might" implies that the ideas being discussed now may not be too perfect, and that the direction of expenditure is generally sufficient. There are countless solutions to the problem, and we can have a wide space for creativity; We emphasize the importance of the team. It is not just the effort of a single member that can solve a problem, but the strength of the entire team is needed to solve the problem. The HMW method has been widely used in IDEO for many years, but its origin can actually be traced back to Basadur's early years as a creative manager at Procter&Gamble. Gradually, Basadur brought the HMW method from Procter&Gamble to other companies. HMW is an innovative method primarily used to propose problems and design solutions. It is mainly used to solve complex problems to stimulate creativity and innovation. This is a mind map about the How Might We method. The map contains 2 processes, each containing 5 stages. One is: do with well being, remove the bad, make health, create an analysis from need or context, change the status quo. Another one is: Question an assumption, Go after objections, ID unexpected resources, Play against the challenge, Break POV into pieces. Each step has a textual description.
