Interpersonal Relationships
Sociocultural model suffers from unclear findings and not allowing for the establishment of casual relationships, reliance on more qualitative data gathered from case studies and ethnographic analyses, and an inability to make preditions about abnormal behavior for individuals.
Sociocultural model asserts that race, ethnicity, gender, religous orientation, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientational all play a role in the development and treatment of mental illness.
Humanistic perspective focuses on positive regard, conditions of worth, and the fully funtioning person while the perspective stresses the need for people to re-create themselves continually and be self-aware, acknowledges that anxiety is a normal part of like, focuses on free will and self determination, emphasize that each person has unique identity known only through relationships and the search for meaning, and finally, that we develop to our maxiumum potential.
Cognitive model focuses on shemas, cognitive errors, attributions, and maladaptive cognitions. They offer strategies such as CBT, ccognitive restructuring, cognitive coping skills trainging, and acceptance.
Observational learning is learning by watching others and modeling techniques change behavior by having subjects observe a model in a situation that usually causes them anxiety.
Behaviioral model concerns the cognitive process of learning, which is any relatively permanent change in behavior due to an experience and practice.
Personality has three parts, the ID, Ego, and superego. it developed into five parts which include oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital.
Treatments related to the biological model include drugs, ECT, and Psychosurgery.
- Many disorders have genetic roots, are a result of hormonal imbalances, or caused by viral infections such as strep.
- Neurotransmitter imblanaces and problems with brain structures/areas can result in mental disorders.
- View mental illness as being a result of a malfunction in the body to include issues with brain anatomy or chemisrty.
